Summary:
Chopper has awoken from his rest and continues his medical care of the Straw Hat Pirates, much to the astonishment of one of the royal palace doctors. He praises Chopper further after Nefertari mentions to Vivi that he is from the Drum Kingdom (known for its doctors), stating that after 40 years as a doctor, he has never seen anything like it. Chopper handles the praise in retro style by meekly accepting it but at the same time yelling at them to stop, even pulling out a chair for the Doctor to sit next to him. Vivi watches with a smile as he continues to assist.
After the war, the inhabitants of the city began to rebuild. Sanji and Usopp walk the streets restocking needed supplies while Usopp comments on how strong the people are. When they reach the area of the city decimated by the encounter between Commodore Smoker, Portgas D. Ace, and Monkey D. Luffy, Sanji notices something.
In another area, Zoro had already started training again. He believes he cannot consider himself stronger unless he can use the power he used to defeat Mr. 1 at will. Nami looks through Nefertari Cobra’s personal collection of books as she leaves them all to her. At the entrance to the palace, Chaka is arguing with the marines about hiding the pirates, ironically just as Sanji and Usopp return. He asks them if they got everything they needed and then comically returns to arguing with the marines and asks if they can prove that the pirates are really there. Sanji and Usopp comment that it will be really loud when “he” wakes up.
Sure enough, Luffy wakes up with a roar, wondering where his hat and breakfast are. Vivi praises Luffy for his good mood and he tells her that he is always like that. However, Nami reminds him how serious his condition was and he thanks them for their care. Like him, Zoro returns from training and incites Chopper’s anger. Zoro tries to brush off the medical risk as his own problem, to which Chopper asserts his position as the ship’s doctor, reminding him that he told him not to take off his bandages. Zoro retorts that the bandages make it difficult to move, and Chopper angrily replies that the bandages are there so he can’t move. Luffy is incredibly shocked to find that he slept for 3 whole days, which equates to 15 meals (5 a day, as Usopp points out). Vivi assures Luffy that she has prepared dinner, and as she does so, Igarama’s wife, Terracotta, enters to confirm that dinner will be ready in half an hour. However, her striking resemblance to Igaramo himself confuses both Luffy and Zoro, causing the latter to actually question her if she is a cross-dresser. After Vivi clarifies that he is the main servant of the palace, Terracotta goes on to explain that she heard that Luffy eats a lot before dinner and gives him fruit in between. Luffy warns her about her appetite, but she assures Luffy that she has worked at the palace for 30 years and will not disappoint.
At a dinner party at the royal palace, Luffy has consumed his food so fast that the waiters are struggling to keep up, and he has actually started eating everyone else’s food. This in turn causes them to try to eat their own food faster and chaos ensues. Usopp makes Luffy eat an extremely hot pepper and laughs at his distress, but when Matsuge joins in, he wonders how the camel got there. While the palace guards are visibly upset by the unprecedented commotion at the dinner table, they are pleased to see Princess Vivi enjoying herself after all she’s been through. The frolic will eventually win them over too and they too will join in the laughter and happiness that the occasion brings.
The crew then enter the baths (separated by gender). Luffy and Usopp fall and hit their heads trying to see who gets into the tub first. While Zoro helps bathe Chopper, Luffy and Usopp pretend to wrestle each other, apparently trying to taunt Zoro. However, Zoro notices that they are completely naked while doing this and asks what they are doing. Sanji asks Igarama where the girl’s spa is. Igaram is furious and he denies it, but Cobra tells them anyway, making him even more angry. Nami and Vivi take a bath together, and when they switch to their backs, they catch the guys peeking over the wall. Vivi is horrified, but Nami isn’t the least bit surprised, even charging them all Beli 100,000 each.
As Nami and Vivi continue to bathe, Nami tells her that they are thinking about leaving Arabasta that night. Now that Luffy is fully recovered, they have no reason to stay. Next, marines patrol the coast and the Going Merry will be in danger. On Cobra’s side, he thanks the crew for helping with the ground (although the guys initially think it’s for a peek). Cobra then bows to the Straw Hats to thank them again, much to their shock. Igaram tells Cobra that he shouldn’t bow like a king, but Cobra tells him that status exists with their clothes, and like naked men in a bathtub, there is no king. Cobra makes it clear that he thanks the crew like a father, with a civic heart.
When the Straw Hats later regroup in their room, they discuss leaving that night. The decision is given to Luffy, but Luffy says they should have another meal at Arabasta before leaving, earning a blow from the crew. In another room, Chaka and Igaram discuss an extremely important turn of events while reward posters sit on a table. These posters are revealed to be Luffy and Zoro: Luffy’s bounty increased to 100 million, while Zoro received his first, 60 million. Igaram wonders if there is any escape for Luffy after defeating one of the seven sea warriors.
