Summary:
Speed arrives at Bakura town with food. Hawkins also arrives but is stopped by Law. Luffy rescues Tama from Holed’em and defeats him in battle. Komachiyo drives Zoro and Kiku out of town.
The conflict in Bakura City continues. Holed’em roars on the rooftops as Kamijiro grips Tama in his mouth while her friends on the street can do nothing but watch. He orders Luffy, Zoro, and Kiku to stand up and threatens to crush Tama under the lion’s jaws. Holed’em taunts Luffy, accusing him of wanting Tama’s powers for his own purposes. He is certain that the three are thieves working under a man named Shutenmaru, but despite Luffy’s forgetfulness, Holed’em is convinced that his theory is correct.
Kiku advises Luffy not to antagonize Shinuchi since the Beast Pirates are practically holding the entire city hostage. If a revolution broke out, Jack, who probably survived an attack from Zunesha in the past, would come for revenge. This realization irritates Luffy even more.
With Tama’s life at his mercy, Holed’em continues to taunt Luffy while a treasure ship filled with food enters the block, watched over by Speed and her guards. It is a harvest from Paradise Farm. The mountainous food supply charms Luffy’s appetite, but he is soon reminded of young Tama’s struggle with hunger, and his rage continues to rise. Luffy instructs Zoro to “manipulate” the massive freighter, surprising Kiku as they both begin to relax their shoulders. Hawkins and his men arrive at the town, but are stopped by a lone man with a sword hiding his face behind a basket. The man is secretly Law.
In the center of the city, Holed’em allows his men to attack Luffy and his allies, reminding them again that Tama’s life is at stake. Regardless, Zoro effortlessly dispatches a number of his samurai. Holed’em chastises him, intending to keep his word as he gives Kamijiro permission to chew the girl out. Suddenly, Luffy bounces to get to them, punching Kamijiro in the nose and grabbing Tama, all before the lion can even bite. Holed’em is impressed by Luffy’s speed while Tama revels in saving her. At the same time, Zoro breaks through Speed’s forces protecting the golden ship.
Holed’em prepares to counterattack, igniting his sword with Kamijiro’s fire breath and splitting the blade into multiple links, revealing a longer-range whip-like weapon. He flaunts his powerful Trick Mechanism sword and swings it in Luffy’s direction. Meanwhile, Kiku is captured by a large pirate. Caught up in the fight, Zoro urges Kiku to drop her gentle facade and introduce her swordsmanship. Kiku eventually relents, breaks free, and joins Zoro’s battle to hijack Speed’s treasure ship.
On the rooftops, Luffy weaves around Holed’em’s giant flaming sword. Noticing Tamina’s injured face from Holed’em’s pursuit, Luffy decides to deliver the final blow. He then swings his fist too far and charges a smoldering Red Hawk into Holed’em’s guts, knocking him off the roof. Tama is dazzled when she realizes the parallels between Luffy and his famous brother.
