One Piece Episode 888

Summary:

After Charlos was taken away, Donquijote Mjosgard promises to protect Shirahoshi during the Levely.

Meanwhile, Sabo sneaks past Mary Geois before heading to the Domain of the Gods. Disguised as Queen Widow Conney of the Sorbet Kingdom, the Bonney Jewels sneak into the Domain of the Gods when an injured Charlos is brought back there. Upon meeting his son, Rosward introduces him to his hired slave Bartholomew Kuma. While hiding underground, Sabo and his friends plan to free Kuma.

A masked Sabo successfully infiltrates Castle Pangea as he passes through the Heavenly Dragon Gate with the other guards after a request for reinforcements is made. Inside, he separates from the group and explores the castle, taking a photo with a special Den Den Mushi. He eventually runs into a guard who confronts him, but he quickly takes out the guard with a Ryusoken and sets him back against the door. Karasu then flies and rockets right outside, causing Sabo to head for the exit. He runs into two more guards and runs away from them, opening a window so they think he jumped into the abyss. He’s actually hanging from the ceiling above them with Ryusoken, falling down and taking them out. He then runs to the wall and destroys it with Ryusoken, allowing him to fly away on one of Karasu’s crows. Karasu notes that he acted recklessly, but Sabo says that they will fight there anyway.

At the Socializing Plaza, Mansherry treats Shirahoshi’s bruise and Shirahoshi thanks her. Mjosgard tells Neptune that he intervened in Charlos’ kidnapping attempt to keep his promise with Otohime. He promises to keep Shirahoshi safe for the next seven days of Levely, and gives Leo permission to beat up any world nobles who threaten her. Pell then races to the square and apologizes to Vivi for leaving her alone during the incident. She asks where her father is and he reveals that Cobra and Riku Doldo III are currently meeting with Admiral Fujitora.

Conney, Queen Dowager of the Sorbet Kingdom, is heading towards the Heavenly Dragon Gate and the Domain of the Gods. The guards recognize her but say she cannot pass and should return to the castle. Charlos is then brought to the gate as he frets over his injury and the gate opens for him. He is greeted by his father, Rosward, and while the gate is open, Conney manages to escape the sight of the guards and run through it. Rosward expresses his disappointment with Mjosgard, and Charlos notices his father is riding the invincible slave and former warlord Bartholomew Kum, who is in line to hire him.

Two years ago, Kuma was tasked by the World Government to get rid of the straw pirates on the Thriller Bark. He confronted them there, but after Roronoa Zoro offered his life to save his captain Luffy, Kuma was unable to kill the Straw Hats. He then appeared to face the Straw Hats again on the Sabaody Archipelago, but strangely he had several new powers, including the ability to shoot lasers. They turned out to be Kuma-style machines called Pacifistas; however, the real Kuma appeared on Sabaody and caused all the Straw Hats to disappear. By the time of the Summit War of Marineford, the World Government’s modifications to Kuma had been completed, and he confronted his old revolutionary comrade, Emporia Ivankov, without recognizing him. Ivankov was speechless and Doflamingo revealed to him that Kuma had lost his humanity and had become Pacifist PX-0. However, Kuma would then continue to guard the Straw Hats’ ship, the Thousand Sunny, while they were gone for another two years, having ominously told Silvers Rayleigh two years earlier of his allegiance to the Revolutionary Army and his intention to help the Straw Hats. He left Sunny when Franky arrived, and Franky later told the rest of his crew, saying that Kuma was one of their greatest allies.

In the present, Rosward takes pleasure in punching and stabbing Kumu on a whim, and Sabo goes berserk as he watches from a nearby alley. He tries to attack the World Nobles, but is caught and restrained by Karasu, and Morley pulls them into the ground. Meanwhile, after breaking into the Domain of the Gods, Conney transforms into her true form, Jewelry Bonney. Bonney looks at Kuma, tears welling up in her eyes as she says she will never forgive World Government. Underground, Karasu, Morley, and Lindbergh warn Sabo not to get upset over Kuma, because while they were also saddened, they knew that Kuma could never return to his old self even if he was freed. They note that the World Government has made a role model of him because he is in this state after rebelling despite once being the king of an associated nation. They warn Sabo that they can’t afford to screw things up, and Sabo takes it, saying that they can only succeed or die.
