Summary:
Somewhere out at sea, Jack sits, recovering on the Mammoth, and tears up a newspaper article about his death.
Kin’emon confirms his status as the retainer of the Kozuki family, but Inuarashi and Nekomamushi begin to argue again. However, Momonosuke begs them to stop and the two minks bow to him apologetically. The samurai then reveals to the Straw Hats that Momonosuke is not actually Kin’emon’s son, but is actually the heir to the daimyo Kuri Kozuki Oden, whose full name is Kozuki Momonosuke. To appease their master, Inuarashi and Nekomamushi reluctantly made a truce, causing their subjects to cheer.
Inuarashi and Nekomamushi take the Straw Hats, Law, and the Samurai to see Raizo. Luffy, Usopp, Chopper and Franky are excited to see the ninja and enter a hidden cave inside the Whale Tree. However, they see Raiz tied to a red poneglyph and crying, and are surprised as his appearance does not resemble their idea of a ninja.
Somewhere out at sea, a fleet of Beasts Pirates is sailing. Inside the damaged but still functional mammoth, a recovering Jack sits below deck and reads a newspaper article about its supposed death. Jack scoffs at such a thought, shreds the newspaper and orders his men to speed the ship.
To verify his claim to be a member of the Kozuki family, Kin’emon removes his kimono to reveal the family crest on his back. The Straw Hats behind him ponder this sudden turn of events in shock, but understand why the samurai kept their allegiance from them. Nekomamushi interrupts Inuarashi while the latter is talking to the samurai, causing Inuarashi to yell at him and the two exchange insults again. However, as they begin to fight and prepare for another physical confrontation, Momonosuke yells at them to stop, expressing his disappointment at the two’s animosity, saying that it would make his father sad. Inuarashi and Nekomamushi then bow to Momonosuke and the Straw Hats are confused as they thought Kin’emon was Momonosuke’s father and just heard Kin’emon refer to Momonosuke with the suffix -sama. Kin’emon reveals that Momonosuke is not actually his son, and instead is Kozuki Momonosuke, the son and heir of the daimyo of Kuri, Kozuki Oden. Kin’emon apologizes for lying to the Straw Hats as he and Momonosuke pretended to be father and son to protect themselves. The Straw Hats’ confusion continues to grow, and Momonosuke approaches the Straw Hats to apologize to them himself. However, Luffy does not care about Momonosuke’s legacy, causing the two to fight. Momonosuke then shows off his twisted nature, but everyone is happy. To keep Momonosuke happy, Inuarashi and Nekomamushi reluctantly decide to call a truce and join hands. This causes the Norse to rejoice that Zou will be reunited, at least for now.
Inuarashi and Nekomamushi then take the Straw Hats, Law, and the Samurai to see Raizo. They travel up the whale tree and Luffy, Chopper, Usopp and Franky are excited to see a real ninja. Momonosuke tells Kin’emon that he still doesn’t feel well and says that he hears a voice calling to him from within; Kin’emon replies that Oden had the same ability. As the male Straw Hats get excited to see Raiz and imagine him as a stereotypical ninja, they reach a hidden entrance in the back of the Whale Tree. The Straw Hats run downstairs to see the ninja and hear Raizo yelling from inside. As Inuarashi and Nekomamushi descend into the cave, a tearful Raizo asks what happened, noticing that the minks who were giving him food were all injured. The Straw Hats then arrive to see Raizo chained to a red poneglyph; they are shocked that he is very stocky and nowhere near the ninja they imagined.
