Summary:
Everyone on Dressrose rejoices Doflamingo’s defeat as the Birdcage disappears. As Luffy passes out, the humans remember their suffering at the hands of Doflamingo, and Kyros sheds human tears for the first time in ten years.
The citizens of Dressrosa flee the parts of the city that Doflamingo leveled, and Rebecca stares at Luffy in awe. She remembers meeting Luffy in the Corrida Colosseum at the statue of Kyros and later revealed her intention to kill Doflamingo in the gladiator prisoner cell. Beside her, Viola remembers how she submitted to Doflamingo ten years ago to save her father’s life, and when the Straw Hats came to Dressrosa ten years later, she told him that she would trust the Straw Hats even though they were pirates. Luffy’s Gear 4 form fades away and the exhaled air blows him everywhere. Law shuts down Luffy with a rock and teleports the pirate to his place. Viola and Rebecca are relieved to see that Luffy is okay.
In the underground port, a defeated Doflamingo lies motionless on the ground with broken sunglasses next to him. The citizens of Dressrosa notice that no one is in the air anymore and tell Gatz to declare the winner. Gatz picks up his Den Den Mushi despite his servants telling him not to strain and tells everyone to look up. He is amazed to see the Birdcage disappear from the tip down, and Gatz questions if he sees his freedom from the Birdcage or from Doflamingo’s rule. Two men remember being forced to work as toys in an underground port, and another remembers his girlfriend not recognizing him after he was turned into a toy. The Birdcage disappears completely, causing the people pushing it (except for Nico Robin, Fujitora, and the marines) to fall forward. After a final push, the dwarves cause the SMILE factory to topple over. The warriors looked up in amazement at the sun rising through the non-existent cage.
Gatz provides the audience with details of the battle and the fighters on both sides, but struggles to announce the winner through tears. Remembering how Doflamingo tricked the people and usurping the throne ten years ago, Riku Doldo III begins to cry, similar to Rebecca crying into Luffy’s face when she remembers Luffy’s promise to save Kyros and defeat Doflamingo. Finally, Gatz declares that Luffy is the winner, causing everyone on Dressros to cheer. As Franky hugs Tontatty, he recalls how they and Kyros worked to uncover Doflamingo’s secret plans and take down the Shichibukai. As this continues, Kyros leaves, remembering how he lost his leg and was turned into a toy, causing everyone he loved to forget him and preventing him from feeling Scarlett’s warmth as she died. After being unable to cry like a toy for ten years, Kyros roars as the people rejoice and cry amidst the rubble, despite their land collapsing.
