Summary:
Corazon talks to Law about the name “D.” and states that most find them problematic. He also tells Law about his ulterior motives without revealing his relationship with the Marines. Law threatens Corazon by stating that he will tell Doflamingo about his motives and that he could talk. But then Law changes his mind. As a result, Rosinante takes Law to several hospitals in an attempt to save him from his illness, but all attempts fail.
Law stands frozen as he tries to grasp the fact that Corazon can speak. Corazon says he’s always been able to talk, and Law asks him why he kept it from Doflamingo. Corazon replies that he never told Doflamingo that he was mute, though Law yells that it’s the same as trickery. Law’s scream causes some citizens to notice him and Corazon in the alley, so Corazon creates a circular barrier around them. Law is shocked to realize that he can no longer hear anyone around them, and Corazon says that he put up a soundproof wall and now no one can hear them either. Corazon reveals that he ate the Nagi Nagi no Mi and became a silent human, which further shocks Law and leads him to question if everything Corazon did was an act, which he confirms, despite accidentally setting his shoulder on fire right after.
After admitting that he’s always been clumsy, Corazon tells Law that he never considered the other Quixote pirates friends. His goal was to prevent his older brother Doflamingo from getting out of control because Doflamingo was a monster. Corazon remembers when he, Doflamingo, and Homing were lynched. He begged the mob to end his life while Homing begged the mob to spare his sons and kill him instead. However, Doflamingo didn’t beg, rather he swore to stay alive and get revenge on the crowd, shocking everyone present. Back in the present, Corazon tells Law that Doflamingo was born to be evil and the only people who knew of his true brutality were he, the other three managers, and Vergo, who was away on a top secret mission that only Doflamingo knew about.
Corazon tells Law to run away before he becomes like Doflamingo, but Law counters that he wants to be one. Just then, Buffalo and Baby 5 peek at them and are confused to see their lips moving without a sound. Corazon then tells Law that his initial “D.” means he is from the fateful family of D. In Mary Geoise, children were disciplined by being told that “D.” would eat them. Corazon explains how notorious the initial D was and the people who bore it, saying that in some places D was known as “the natural enemy of God”. Corazon says that the World Nobles were often considered gods and that the D’s would destroy their world.
After accepting the information, Law became angry again, saying that he only joined the Donquixote Pirates to violently kill people, and that he would die in a year without doing anything else. Corazon tells him to go find a cure, but Law says there isn’t any before running to tell Doflamingo about Corazon’s trick. Corazon angrily chases after him and attacks him, but Law uses his newfound fighting skills to throw Corazon into a trash can. Law meets with Buffalo and Baby 5 and Buffalo reprimands him for breaking the Blood Law again, but Law bribes him to keep quiet again. Later, Corazon emerges from the alley cursing that he told Law everything and prepares to pack before Doflamingo returns and leaves. However, to his shock, he runs into Doflamingo on their ship and Doflamingo tells him that Tsuru’s ship was after them and they had to leave. Law then approaches a stunned Corazon and tells him that he decided not to tell Doflamingo to get back at Corazon for not telling him about the stabbing two years ago.
Later, the Donquixote pirates are back at sea and are being chased by Tsuru’s ship. Suddenly, Diamante realizes that Corazon and Law are gone, and SeƱor Pink pulls out a letter from Corazon saying that he went to cure Law’s illness. Meanwhile, Corazon sails away in a boat with Law tied to the front. The young pirate kicks and screams to get back when suddenly the Den Den Mushi rings. Corazon picks it up and tells the person on the other end that she’s taking a break from her mission. The person on the other end is Sengoku, and he asks Corazon about the three children who didn’t leave the Donquijote Pirates before they tasked Corazon to continue his mission after his hiatus and suspension. Sengoku is then approached by two marines, one of whom, Vergo, requests a transfer to the G-5 branch. Law is suspicious of the exchange and asks Corazon if he is with the Marines, which he denies.
Corazon drags Law to the hospital and promises to take him to every hospital until his amber lead syndrome is cured. Corazon has high hopes for this hospital, but when the doctors learn of Law’s condition and where he is from, they retreat in fear and activate an emergency. Feeling pain from his past, Law runs out of the hospital and Corazon regrets having to give Law his memories of Flevance back before beating up the doctors and causing an explosion in the hospital. They visit several other hospitals with the same results and Law’s condition only worsens. Six months later, Corazon and Law camp near the ocean. A drunken Corazon stands over Law, whom she thinks is sleeping, and expresses her regret that Law has to relive the pain he felt in Flevanca. Corazon begins to cry and says that the pain he felt when Law stabbed him was nothing compared to the pain Law must have felt before he left. However, Law was awake and heard everything and started crying as well. The next morning, Law wakes Corazon up for breakfast and calls him “Cora-san” to his surprise.
Back in the presence, Law presses his attack on Doflamingo and vows to never forget the tears Corazon had that night. Inside the palace, Luffy continues to dodge Bellamy’s punches when he realizes that a Doflamingo clone is behind him. The Doflamingo clone flies towards Luffy as he screams.
