Summary:
Jinbe leaves Luffy with Rayleigh and tells him that he will see him at Fish-Man Island in two years. Rayleigh tells Luffy where she will train him for the next two years, but Hancock initially disagrees. However, Rayleigh assures Hancock that it will be best for Luffy to train there. Rayleigh takes Luffy to a deserted island called Rusukaina to begin his training. As Rayleigh and Luffy go into the jungle of the island, he shows Luffy the only safe place there, then they go a little further and are attacked by a huge elephant. Rayleigh introduces the concept of Haki to Luffy and then demonstrates three different types of Haki. Luffy puts away his straw hat in the only safe area on the island and begins his training with Rayleigh.
This episode begins on the Kuja Pirates ship. Jinbe leaves and he and Luffy say their goodbyes. Shortly after Jinbe leaves, Hancock fantasizes about Luffy again.
The scene switches to a deserted island northwest of the Amazon Lily called Rusukaina, which will be Luffy’s training ground for the next two years. Rayleigh states that it is a great place to train because the island has forty-eight seasons in a year and the season changes every week. Hancock tells Luffy that he will bring him food from the Amazon Lily every day. Rayleigh interrupts and says that while Luffy is training, women are not allowed on the island. Hancock gets upset about this, but Rayleigh tells her that it’s good for Luffy, so Hancock and the Kuja Pirates leave.
The scene changes as Rayleigh and Luffy look around the island. Rayleigh says that there was once a land on Rusukaina, but the people lost the will to survive. Luffy is surprised by the vast wilderness, and Rayleigh tells him that there are about five hundred wild animals that exceed Luffy’s strength. Rayleigh mentions that there is a power that relates to Luffy, and that power is called Haki.
Then an elephant appears out of nowhere that is five times the size of a normal elephant (as described by Luffy) while Rayleigh explains what Haki is. Luffy panics and uses his second transfer to try and defeat the elephant, but it has no effect on the elephant as it is still standing and knocks Luffy aside. Luffy is about to try again, but Rayleigh tells Luffy to follow him, explaining the first two basic types of Haki. Luffy remembers that many of his friends and enemies have already used them and it could work on his enemies if he learned it. Rayleigh then explains that there is another Haki, and Luffy, who goes back in time, remembers that he used it before, but Rayleigh warns Luffy that if this Haki is not used and managed properly, it can harm innocent people.
The scene cuts to night, Luffy and Rayleigh are having dinner, and Rayleigh says that he will teach Luffy the best he could in two years with all these Haki, and Rayleigh adds that Luffy won’t be easy as a trainer. Rayleigh then says that they will start training now, but Luffy says that they have to do something first. Luffy goes to the only safe place on the island and leaves his straw hat on a rock along with Rayleigh’s Vivre Card and thinks about his crew, Ace and Sabo and their promise and then starts training with Rayleigh.
The episode ends with a scene of all the crew members and Luffy vowing to become stronger.
