Summary:
Garp drops Luffy off to live with Dadan’s family, where he meets Ace – who takes an instant dislike to Luffy. Luffy follows Ace to befriend him every day non-stop for 3 months, while Ace tries to discourage Luffy by leading him through dangerous obstacles such as rivers full of crocodiles. At the end of 3 months, Luffy reaches the end of the forest and discovers a new location on Dawn Island – Gray Terminal.
Ten years before the story, there was a peaceful village of Fusha. Mount Corvo was the most treacherous.
Garp dragged his now rubber grandson Luffy with him, hoping to make him a marine instead of a pirate. Curly Dadan was surprised by Garp’s presence alongside the Dogra and Magra mountain bandits. With Ace now ten years old, Dadan’s family thinks Ace will hand over to Garp, but he left Luffy in their care. If Dadan’s family didn’t raise Luffy, they could spend the rest of their days in prison. Curly angry at Luffy’s presence.
Young Ace arrived and Garp introduced him to Luffy. The two boys flashed grumpy faces at each other. Luffy expected Ace to apologize for his actions. When Luffy was looking for Ace, he was caught by bandits and Dogra told the goons that young Luffy would stay with them. The bandits began to fight for food, and the young rubber boy did not get a single piece of meat.
Curly Dadan explained the story of her bandit gang while Ace ate. All the meat was from bison that Ace had taken down. The bandit woman expected Luffy to work hard and told him to grow up fast. The boy in the straw hat said he could survive in the jungle and hoped to be a pirate. He followed Ace out.
Luffy chased after Ace to introduce himself and isn’t mad at being spat on. He wanted to be friends but Ace knocked down the tree and sent him to Luffy. In the jungle, Corvo Ace was crossing a bridge when Luffy caught up with him. The boy in the red shirt punched Luffy and he fell into the ravine.
When Ace came back he had just caught a fish and didn’t say where Luffy was. Dogra and Magra were worried about Luffy’s condition and worried about Garp’s reaction. Curly drunkenly said that Luffy should take care of himself. Ace remembered the other pirates mocking his biological father. Dadan decided to banish Ace because he is the devil’s son.
A week later, while the bandits were resting, Dadan was summoned and Luffy was seen alive and well. The boy in the straw hat said he was being chased by wolves. The next morning, Luffy continued to chase Ace, ignoring the chores Dadan wanted him to do. Ace started to run while Luffy followed. Luffy was almost eaten by crocs. The next day, Luffy continued to chase Ace while Ace ignored him and threw rocks at him. On the tenth day, Luffy is almost eaten by a snake. He was not discouraged. After months, Ace continued to run away from Luffy.
With Dadan over the edge, he finds Luffy’s face stung by bees. He tried to chase Ace again, with Ace having trouble. At that moment, a big tiger appeared. Ace tried to make Luffy run away. Then a wild bear appeared and the boy in the straw hat ran away. When the rain stopped, he continued his pursuit of Ace for over three months. At the end of the Corvo forest, Luffy saw the ruins.
