One Piece Episode 488

Summary:

The fight in Marineford is still raging as Trafalgar Law arrives to rescue Luffy. Sengoku is still fighting Blackbeard while Akainu is fighting the Whitebeard pirate commanders. Even though the Marines have clearly won the war, they are still fighting, and as many die around Koby, the “voices” continue to fade from his mind. He bravely stops the war for a few moments, and when Akainu is about to kill him, Shanks comes in saying that “seconds of courage change the fate of the world”.

Buggy carries an unconscious Jinbe and Luffy, who insults Law, is a doctor armed with a sword. The Marines acknowledge the Law for aiding and abetting the fight against the World Nobles in Sabaody. Law asks Buggy to bring the two pirates to him, and the clown dodges a cannonball. Navy ships begin to close in on Law’s submarine as Akainu gloats that Luffy doesn’t have to do any favors even if he survives the day. He could be the bane of the Whitebeard Pirates. While the admiral fires the Hound Blaze, Whitebeard’s crew fire while Marco charges the Lava Hound. More marines are deployed to retrieve the remaining Whitebeard Pirates as well as the Blackbeard Pirates.

As the pirate continues to fight the marines, Sengoku fires another blast wave, hitting Teach hard. Koby goes down, holding his head, and starts having horrible visions of pirates killing marines and vice versa. Teach recovers and plans to sink all of Marineford. Sengoku vows to kill Teach, but the black-bearded pirate stops the shockwave with a jolt. Burgess attacks, but Garp stops the attack and shows loyalty to the Marines. Teach starts to grab the sky. As the navy ships come dangerously close, Bepo yells at Jean Bart that she has ordered him to get to him. While the Marines were firing, Teach waves his hands down, but the ocean shakes, causing the Marines to miss their target. It’s not just Marineford, it’s the sky and the ocean that’s shaking violently. Some naval and pirate ships are engulfed by the waves while Teach shows joy in his work.

Akainu chases after Buggy but is blocked by Vista. As Koby cries desperately, Teach must learn to control his new tremorsense abilities. Burgess insists they wait for the crew to leave, but Sengoku believes Teach has gone mad. Teach lines that playing nice is nothing.

Then the sirens wail in Sabaody and the tsunami comes. People are supposed to leave for Groves 40 to 50.

More pacifists are stationed at Marineford and the marines begin to overpower the pirates. Some of the remaining Whitebeard pirates decide to refuse the last order and begin a fight to the death. When the shaking stops, Koby begins to feel sad. More pirates and marines are killing each other left and right.

When the order is given to kill everyone, Tashigi tries to tend to the wounded marine. They find out that the pirates want revenge. Smoker endures several shots and believes that these unnecessary fights are an injustice. Koby is outside, thinking about the times he spent with Luffy.

As Akainu takes Curiel down, he orders the marines to show no mercy. Koby trips over a dead marine and tries to wake him up, but finds the necklace. He finds a picture of the dead Marine’s family.

As Teach shouts that there might not be anyone to challenge him, Kizaru fires a light blast at Buggy, daring him to come and face him. Running out of time, Buggy throws Jinbe and Luffy to Jean Bart. With Luffy’s injuries far worse than Sabaody’s, Kizaru prepares to finish Luffy once and for all. Koby shouts that enough is enough.

Koby reasons that the fighting is over and the Marines have won. A young Marine calls out that all Marines have families and questions that Marines need to prove. Akainu tells him to leave and is wasting time. Sensing that Koby does not believe in justice, Akainu goes to execute Koby, but is stopped by the sword. Everyone watches in shock. It was Shanks who stopped the fatal blow, and he says that Koby’s speech will change the world, for better or worse. As Luffy and Jinbe raced below decks, Kizaru almost made a move of mercy, but Benn Beckman held him at gunpoint. As the marines are shocked, Shanks raises his straw hat and announces that he will end the war.
