One Piece Episode 293

Summary:

Chopper easily defeats Kumadori in his Monster Point. Nami is in trouble with Kalifa’s Devil Fruit. Meanwhile, Luffy finally catches up with Spandam, Rob Lucci, and Nico Robin.

Kumadori stands in awe of Chopper in his Monster form. He wasn’t sure what was going on, but he tried to defeat him in the name of ‘Kumadori the Lion’. However, none of his attacks affected Chopper. Finally, Chopper smashed Kumadori to the floor with a single swing of his arm.

Meanwhile, Franky had just retrieved the key from Fukurou (who was still unconscious in the hole), only to find that it was not the key needed to unlock Zoro and Sogeking’s bonds. The key he had was number 4, and Zoro and Sogeking’s bonds were number 2. He figures if the guy he beat has 4 and “that guy” (Kumadori) had 3, then the only person left has it number. 2 key is “that secretary” (Kalifa). He is ready to go and help.

Meanwhile, Kalifa is taking a bath in her room while Nami lies on the floor by the door, soaked in soap. Kalifa taunted her saying she could attack but Nami couldn’t move. Realizing that Kalifa is using a Devil Fruit, Nami says that she should lose her power if her body is at least half submerged in water. However, Caliph is not worried because Nami has lost her power as well; she then proceeds to get out of the tub and dry off/get dressed. Nami demands to know what her power is, but Kalifa somewhat “dares” her to try to figure it out, saying that solving the mystery is the best part of fighting a Devil Fruit user. Nami remembers what happened to Sanji, how smooth and shiny he was. Soon, Nami’s strength gradually returned, and once her strength returned, she attacked Kalifa with Thunder Charged Climate Tact, but Kalifa simply used Sora to move out of the way. However, the Caliph did not realize that a cloud had formed above her. Nami then attacked with Thunderbolt Tempo and the lightning struck Kalifa where she stood.

However, when the dust cleared, all Nami saw was a large bar of soap with CP9 written on it. Caliph wrapped herself in soap to protect her. Surprised, Nami wondered how she did it, but Kalifa again forced her to try to figure it out. Thinking it over, Nami asked if she was a “soap girl” who eats “Awa Awa no Mi” (Bubble Bubble Fruit) or something. Taken aback, Kalifa stuttered as she said that even if she knew her power, she still had no chance of winning (she probably didn’t expect him to actually figure it out). She then admitted she was right; she ate the fruit and has the power to create bubbles (causing Nami to accidentally blurt out that she’d like to have Kalifa as a secretary before remembering that they’re both women). She then proceeded to show off her strength by using the bubbles from the bathtub to create a soap sheep (using her arms as horns). She then used Hitsuji-Gumo Relax Awa to attack Nami by shooting bubbles at her. It was at this time that Kalifa stated why Nami lost her power when she entered the room. It was then that Nami realized that the floor was covered in bubbles and that it was the bubbles that caused her to lose her power. One cloud of bubbles hit Nami and stuck to her as she fell to the floor. She began to lose strength as Kalifa approached her and kicked her against the wall. However, this caused the bubbles that were attached to Nami to come loose, so she took this opportunity to attack with Thunder Ball. However, Kalifa used Sora again to sneak up behind her.

Once she was behind Nami, she used the Golden Awa (Golden Bubble, “awa” is also a pun on “hour”) and started rubbing her feet while making soap. It made them smooth and shiny and Nami collapsed. Kalifa explained that she could polish anything she touched to a nice shine. Although it scared Nami, Kalifa acted like it was a good thing and gave her opponent perfectly smooth skin; she goes on to say that she won’t stop until all of Nami falls under her powerful influence.

Meanwhile, back in the kitchen, Kumadori was badly beaten and bruised, barely able to stand. Chopper didn’t have a single scratch on him. Chopper raised his arm for another beating. Kumadori used Tekkai but it was no use. Meanwhile, outside, Franky just climbed over the wall and got to the level where the kitchen was. There was a huge bang and Chopper walked over, pulling Kumadori by the head. Franky was shocked to see Chopper like this, and maybe just as shocked to see Kumadori beaten so badly. Chopper then tossed Kumadori all the way into the courthouse like a rag doll. Franky didn’t even recognize Chopper at first, but then he saw the hat that Chopper always wears. When he asked him if he was the same person, Chopper attacked Franky. Meanwhile in the courthouse, many marines and government officials were shocked to see that Kumadori had been thrown all the way from the Tower of Justice. Back at the Tower of Justice, Franky is lying on the ground wondering what the hell is going on as Chopper climbs up the side of the tower.

Meanwhile, in the long tunnel leading to the Gate of Justice, Robin hears the howl of a helicopter and stops for a moment. Rob Lucci stops and looks back at her, then at Spandam, who tells Lucci to drag Robin along. Spandam then tells her that there is no way “those wretched pirates” can save her. They are almost at the Bridge of Hesitation, which leads directly to the Gate of Justice. Once outside the gates, all he will feel is the pain of his sins; sin to live until that day. He then starts laughing in her face and continues until Luffy yells “ROBIN!” for the whole tunnel to hear him. Robin looked back and smiled that Luffy had come to save her. Lucci gave a devilish grin, showing that he was waiting for Luffy to arrive. Spandam panicked and sputtered like crazy until Lucci calmed him down. He told Spandam to take Robin and proceed to the Gate of Justice. Meanwhile, Luffy arrived at another door, though this one was wooden unlike the previous one. He broke through her easily and there was none other than Lucci waiting for him on the other side.
