One Piece Episode 149

Summary:

Cricket explains how the Straw Hat Pirates can ride a dangerous vertical current called the Knock Up Stream to get to Skypiea. But first, they must capture South Bird to guide them to the point where the current erupts from the ocean.

Mont Blanc Cricket explains to the Straw Hat Pirates that the sudden night they witnessed earlier was the result of a thick cloud and that Skypie’s location was directly above that cloud. Cricket then explains that theoretically the ship can follow the Knock Up Stream to reach Skypiea. However, if they fail to find a place to land, they fall back to the ground. According to Cricket’s prediction, the next Knock-up Stream will take place the next day. The Straw Hat Pirates go back inside to eat. Meanwhile, the Bellamy Pirates approach Cricket’s house for the gold.

Cricket continues reading Noland’s diary. Noland writes that he heard the bell when he reached Sky Island. Cricket then shows three bell-shaped gold ingots he found while diving, proving that there was a civilization there, as well as a gold statue of a Southbird. He then explains that the straw pirates will have to catch the south bird from the forest because it always heads south, so the pirates can use the south bird as a kind of compass to navigate to the Knock Up Stream.

So while Cricket, Masira, and Shoujou repair and upgrade the Going Merry, the straw pirates split into groups and head into the forest to find the bird from the south. Sanji, Usopp, and Nami end up in an area full of dungeons while Zoro gets stuck in a swamp and Luffy and Chopper manage to find the southbird, but it drops a bee’s nest on Luffy, causing several insects to chase them away.

Meanwhile, the Bellamy Pirates get to Cricket’s house and Masira and Shoujou are ready to fight them.

Weaknesses (Optional): Limited Character Development Beyond the Core Crew: The episode usually makes a speciality of the core Straw Hat group participants, supplying minimal improvement for different characters delivered in previous episodes. Filler Episode (for a few viewers): This episode will be considered filler content for visitors searching for immediate development within the overarching plot. Overall: One Piece Episode 149 is a fun and tasty episode that sets the level for the Straw Hats’ exploration of Skypiea. While the episode is probably considered filler content for a few visitors looking for instant plot advancement, it successfully introduces new demanding situations, emphasizes the importance of teamwork, and injects traditional One Piece humor. The episode concludes with a feel of desire because the Straw Hats put together to embark on their adventure closer to the fabled sky island.
