Summary:
Sanji refuses to leave the restaurant to become a pirate. Gin leaves to rejoin his crew.
Luffy marvels that Gin’s food saved him from death and asks Sanji to join his crew. After the introduction, Sanji tells Luffy that Zeff was a pirate himself and Baratie is the old man’s treasure. Plus all the other chefs are pirate types themselves. In a restaurant frequented by pirates, they are perfect for the job, but the waiters couldn’t handle the fight and quit. Realizing that this is why Zeff wanted him to work for a year, Luffy repeats his offer to Sanji. Sanji refuses and won’t say why. Gin, a pirate for Don Krieg, asks what Luffy plans to do, and Luffy tells him that his goal is to find the One Piece. Gin warns Luffy not to enter the Grand Line, despite not knowing much about it himself.
In the kitchen, the other cooks warn Patty that his treatment of Gin could attract Don Krieg. Krieg is so terrifying that his ‘crew’ consists of 5,000 men divided into fifty crews. But Patty isn’t worried, saying that giving a pirate free food would have an adverse effect on paying customers. Baratia’s warrior cooks have driven off attacking pirates before, and if they don’t like it, they can quit. Fellow chef Carne points out that he told the waiters. Before the altercation could turn physical, Zeff shows up to quell the violence.
Outside, Luffy and Sanji say goodbye to Gin, who sails away. When Zeff appears to be calling the boy back to work, Sanji sends the plate he served Gin’s food on overboard and removes all “evidence”.
In the kitchen, Luffy declares that he is now a Chore-Boy, and after breaking several dishes, Patty is told to wait on customers. In the cafeteria, Luffy is furious to find his crew and Nami resting while he’s stuck at work. Sanji then appears and declares his love for Nami, waxing poetic about the “obstacles” between them. Zeff appears out of nowhere and says that Sanji can be a pirate, there’s no need in Baratie.
Elsewhere, Gin made it back to the crew he originally belonged to and told his boss, Don Krieg, that he could take the crew to Baratia.
