Summary:
After taking their navigator, the Straw Hats stop in Loguetown before heading to the Grand Line. It was in this town that Roger was executed, ushering in the age of pirates. Luffy decides to see the execution platform for himself while the others go shopping. On his way, Zoro encounters an awkward Marine girl who is the spitting image of Kuina.
Meanwhile, the Marines decide to put a 30,000,000 Beli bounty on Luffy’s head. The world is beginning to know about his exploits. Elsewhere, Mihawk visits Shanks and informs him of the reward.
Nami claims that newspapers and everything else have gone up in price. Meanwhile, Usopp develops a new chili marble for blind opponents. Luffy bumps into Usopp, causing him to pour chili in his eyes. Luffy tries to eat an orange from Nami’s tree, but Sanji defends the tree from Luffy. Zoro, on the other hand, is resting. The ship is headed for the Grand Line.
Meanwhile, at Marine HQ, Lt. Brannew reviews the bounty on each East Blue pirate. Every high bounty pirate in East Blue has been defeated by Monkey D. Luffy. Brannew shows Luffy the first reward of 30,000,000 Beli. Marines gather to pledge justice and righteousness at sea.
Back on the ship, Luffy is proud of his first reward poster, but Nami is worried that they will all try to kill each other. Usopp is also proud of his captain’s reward poster as the back of his head is shown. They decide it’s time to head for the Grand Line. When Zoro sees the island, Nami informs them that it is Loguetown, “the city of beginnings and ends”, where the legendary Gold Roger was born and executed. When the crew arrives at the island, Luffy decides to head to the execution platform, Sanji is looking for food, Usopp wants to buy some tools, and Zoro is thinking of buying something, so Nami offers to lend him some money with 300% interest.
While Zoro is walking around town, he sees a girl they are recruiting because they can’t fulfill their dream of going to the Grand Line. The girl who is a swordsman quickly finishes them off, but drops her glasses in the process. Zoro is impressed by her skills and helps her find her glasses. When the girl thanks him, Zoro stares in shock as she is a divisive image of his long dead friend Kuina.
Meanwhile, on an isolated island, Mihawk is looking for someone. That someone is soon revealed to be Shanks, captain of the Red-Haired Pirates. Mihawk informs Shanks about Luffy’s first bounty poster and that he remembered a story he once told him about a child in a small village. Eager to be reunited with Luffy, Shanks throws a party to celebrate Luffy’s arrival and first reward.
Meanwhile, in Luffy’s hometown, Foosha Village, everyone is happy because Luffy is infamous. The villagers wonder if he will become the great pirate of the village. But the mayor of the village is not really happy with the result, saying that it is Luffy’s dream or destiny.
