Summary:
Level 2, Beast Hell
As the jailers report the gigantic hole left by Sphinx and Luffy, a group of escaped prisoners sneak up on the jailers and are armed. Shocked that the level 2 prisoners are free (by Buggy), one calls for backup as the jailers meet their fate.
Impel Down, monitoring room
A jailer runs in, announcing that Fleet Admiral Sengoku has discovered the motive behind Luffy’s intrusion. They reveal that Ace and Luffy are brothers. The jailer confirms this as Luffy has been through one hell after another. He orders the Blue Gorillas to Level 2 and asks Magellan for help.
Grand Line, Headquarters Marine Corps
Garp is seen sitting on the sofa next to the person while Sengoku calls Luffy a fool for entering Impel Down while the war with Whitebeard is about to take place. He lists events such as Enies Lobby and the Sky Dragon Incident. Then Sengoku reveals that a man named Golden Lion, the “Flying Pirate” escaped from Impel Down 20 years ago, the first in history to do so. Sengoku then proceeds to curse the fact that the first person to penetrate Impel Down since then was Garp’s grandson Luffy. He berates Kuma for lying to him, for not believing a single word Kuma said that the Straw Hat Pirates were eliminated. Sengoku says that if Garp wasn’t the “hero of the Marines”, he would make him take responsibility for his family’s actions. However, Garp continues to laugh and joke about the situation.
Level 3
Luffy notices that the third floor of Impel Down was very hot and that the floor was similar to a frying pan. Buggy curses Luffy for going to another level of hell while Mr. 3 experiments with his Doru Doru powers. It produces an amount of wax that melts instantly. The grilled bird flies down and lands on the floor, much to Luffy’s delight. Mr. 3 explains that the hummingbird may have flown through the hole in Level 2 and cooked on the way down. He also reveals that everyone at level 3 had a Beli reward of 50,000,000 or higher. Mr. 3 goes on to say that the intense heat rising from level 4 made it nearly impossible to grow food or water, forcing the inmates to a state of near-death, earning the level the nickname “Hungry Hell.” The trio notices a skeleton tied to an x-shaped cross. Mr. 3 urges them to go forward while they have sweat in their bodies. Through a mouthful of food, Luffy tells the other two to hurry to Level 4. At which point, the trio begin arguing over who said what. While this is happening, the jailer orders the net to be raised. At this point, the Sphinx gets caught in the net and takes the trio with it. Luffy tries to bite through, only to find that the net is as strong as steel. Buggy discovers that it was a Seastone net, as several jailers and blue gorillas appear below them. A short figure holding a Devil’s Trident approaches them and introduces himself as Saldeath to the captured trio. Luffy replies that Saldeath doesn’t look like a monkey because of a Japanese pun. Saldeath says that resistance is futile since they were underwater and that they should be thankful that he captured them and not someone else. He goes on to say that if they advanced to level 4, they would encounter the four dungeon beasts or Magellan. Suddenly, the jailer notices that the Sphinx has woken up and begins to wiggle wildly in the web. Then he rips it open and screams “spaghetti soup”. Luffy lands on the floor but is met by the Blue Gorillas. He responds almost immediately, using Gomu Gomu no Gatling Gun and sending them flying. Luffy looks for Mr. 3 and Buggy and finds that they have climbed a rope onto a beam. The two taunt Luffy, claiming that they tricked him. However, Luffy simply thanks them for their help. Saldeath ordered the jailers not to fail as Luffy had a reward of 300,000,000 Beli. Luffy continues to punch through the Blue Gorillas when the Sphinx raises his paw and accidentally crushes the other jailers. Luffy throws the blue gorilla at the jailers and escapes. Buggy and Mr. 3 rest on gigantic beams. Soon Mr. 3 and Buggy hear someone singing. Mr. 3 soon recognizes the voice to his horror and finds Mr. 2 leading his fellow prisoners to Okama Way. Mr. 2 soon notices Mr. 3 and Buggy outside his cage and wonders how they could be free inside Impel Down. Mr. 3 suggests they don’t let Mr. 2 go, but Buggy stares at Mr. 2 in amazement, calling him a “strange creature”.
