One Piece Episode 201

Summary:

After Sanji and Luffy free Usopp and Zoro from their prison cell, Shepherd, known to the marines as Condoriano, is left behind. Shepherd tries to convince them that he is not Condoriano, but an inspector from Marine Headquarters. However, the guards refuse to believe him and take him away.

Meanwhile, Luffy’s group is running around the base, being chased by marines. While trying to escape, they reach a dead end on the side of a mountain and meet Vice Admiral Jonathan, who happened to be on the balcony of his office. Luffy tells Jonathan that he has freed his crew members and states that they were about to flee the base. This makes Jonathan laugh and asks him if he really thinks he can escape from Navarone Island with their treasure, to which Luffy replies that they are pirates and that the marines can’t catch them. Suddenly, a huge cannon is fired at Luffy’s group and they run back to the base.

Instead of pouncing on the Straw Hats, Jonathan decides to set a trap for them at Dock 88, where the Going Merry is docked, knowing that’s where they’ll definitely go. He assigns Lt. Drake to set up an ambush at Dock 88, and since it will take some time for Drake to arrive at said dock, he orders Unit 55 to slow the Straw Hats to a halt for time. He puts them on the bridge, which is the only way to get on the ship.

Meanwhile, an alarm is heard at the base clinic. Nami and Chopper overhear a guard informing Dr. Kobat that they are in Code Red for a prison break. Nami is worried because she and Chopper were still separated from the crew. They figure that Luffy must have saved Zoro and Usopp and that they are probably on their way to Merry. They decide they need to get out of the clinic to meet the rest of the crew.

Before Nami and Chopper can leave, a guard tells Dr. Kobat that one of the pirates has disguised himself as a doctor. He panics and locks the door to his clinic. He doesn’t realize that the pirates involved are Nami and Chopper and fears for their safety. However, the two inform her that they are pirates and that they need her to tell them the location of the dock where their ship is. Dr. Terrified, Kobato screams and then passes out, causing the guards to break down the door and rush inside. Nami improvises, pretending to have been attacked as well, and lays down next to the doctor, all tied up, while Chopper hides. Nami tells the guards that the “pirates” escaped through the air ducts.

When Dr. Kobato regains consciousness, she tries to scream, but Nami calms her down. Chopper and Nami are about to leave when Dr. Kobato tells them that even though they are pirates, they were the ones who helped her understand what it really means to be a doctor and that he wants to help them find their ship. Worried that they might get her into trouble for helping the pirates, Chopper tells them that if they get caught, he’ll just pretend to be a hostage. Because her father works in the docks, Dr. Kobato is able to determine where their ship might be.

Meanwhile, Luffy’s group arrives at the bridge leading to Dock 88. Seeing that the bridge is unguarded, they realize it must be a trap. They decide they don’t care and go ahead and get over it. Unit 55 blocks their path and has them surrounded on all sides. Luffy’s group easily defeats them, but in the process Luffy destroys the bridge and they all fall into the bay. Despite the damage done, Jonathan was pleased with the result as it bought them the time they needed to set up an ambush at Dock 88. Luffy’s group heads into the dock, straight into a trap, seemingly cornered. Luffy is shot by a Seastone net and is incapacitated. Just then, Nami and Dr. Kobato also arrive, pushing a hospital bed, with Chopper hidden in a sheet pretending to be a patient.
