One Piece Episode 212

Summary:

Bickering rivals Sanji and Zoro are able to overcome the opposing team by working together for a few seconds. Luffy chooses Tonjito’s horse, Shelly, over Chopper.

The episode begins with Itomimizu recounting that Sanji and Zoro have been defeated, but is interrupted when the two Straw Hats suddenly stand up. The rest of the Straw Hats cheer them on, while Itomimizu continues to doubt whether Zoro and Sanji still have any powers. Foxy then orders a “Monster Burger” from the Groggy Monsters, causing the Foxy Pirates to go into shock. The straw men in the audience wonder what this could mean. The Foxy Pirates then start cheering as Hamburg, Pickles, and Big Pan draw their guns and claim to crush, slice, and smash Zoro and Sanji into a “monstrous burger.” Itomimizu says that’s clearly against the rules, but the referee is dragging his feet and not watching the pitch. Luffy gets mad at the referee, but Nami and Usopp hold him back.

The Groggy Monsters launch their attack with a Hamburg that goes straight for Sanji, but the Hamburg easily defeats it and sends him right into the pans that Big Pan is smashing together. Angered by Hamburg’s defeat, Pickles attacks Sanji but is stopped by Zoro. Pickles tries to attack Zoro with his swords, but Zoro sends him flying with Mutouryuu: Tatsumaki. Pickles flies at Big Pan and accidentally cuts him in the chest. As Big Pan starts to topple over, Sanji runs after him and makes him stand up with the Anti-Manner Kick Course. Zoro then starts to run towards Big Pan with Pickles standing between them, but Sanji quickly kicks him out of the way and right into the referee. The referee tries to give a red card but notices that both his cards and the whistle are gone before he passes out. It is then revealed that Nami stole them from him. Back in the field, Zoro is seen running at Sanji, and At first Itomimizu thinks they are fighting again, but Zoro merely jumps on Sanji’s leg, who sends him into Big Pan with an Armée de l’Air Power Shoot. Zoro grabs Big Pan by the mouth and proceeds to land his head in the goal, much to the shock of the Foxy Pirates.

The watching Straw Hats begin to cheer, as do some of the Foxy Pirates, before Foxy scolds them for praising the enemy. The referee then wakes up when Nami convinces him to blow his whistle, which he does without knowing the situation, and Itomimizu announces that the game is over and the Straw Hats are the winners, while the Straw Hats cheer for Zoro and Sanji.

Itomimizu explains that now that the Straw Hats have won, they can either choose a member of the Foxy Pirates or take their flag. Luffy says that he’s already made up his mind, and several Foxy Pirates immediately start thinking that Luffy is going to pick them, while Chopper silently begs Luffy to hurry up. Just as Luffy is about to say who he will choose, Nami interrupts him. He tells Luffy that Foxy will probably interfere in the next game and suggests that Luffy choose Foxy for his team. He goes on to say that even if they chose Chopper now, they could still lose him in the next game if the Foxy Pirates win, and removing Foxy now would be the best way to ensure Chopper’s return to the crew. The Foxy Pirates are shocked by this and call it a “peanut strategy” and claim that the Straw Hats are being unfair if they do this. After Zoro agrees with them and says that Nami is wrong, he charges at the Foxy Pirates and warns them not to be cocky. Zoro is seen on the ground with a huge bump on his head, indicating that Nami hit him as well.

Itomimizu then says that Luffy can still choose anyone from the Foxy Pirates. The pirates who thought they would be chosen still think so, but this time Foxy also thinks Luffy might choose him. Robin then points out that if they chose Foxy now, he would be a member of their crew, and the rest of the Straw Hats immediately say they don’t want him, which shocks Foxy. He falls into depression and his crew gathers to comfort and encourage him. At first he cheers up, but when Sanji tells him to cut it off, he falls into depression again.

Itomimizu then directs the conversation back to where it was: who will Luffy choose? Chopper holds back tears as Luffy says he’ll take something back. Chopper cheers, thinking Luffy will choose him, but then Luffy shouts Shelly’s name. Nami and Usopp start to complain and pull on Luffy’s face. Tonjit and Shelly appear in front of the Straw Hats and Luffy tells Tonjit that he got Shelly back for him from the Foxy Pirates. Tonjit expresses concern at Zoro and Sanji’s beaten apparitions, thanks Luffy for what he did, and then asks if Chopper agrees. Chopper looks devastated, but Luffy tells him to wait and promises that he will definitely win the next round and get him back. Luffy asks Chopper if he has a problem with that, to which Chopper says no. The episode ends with each of the Straw Hats looking forward to the next game.
