Summary:
Clover reveals that the Poneglyphs were most likely carved by an ancient earth to prevent their enemy, the World Government, from completely erasing their history, but is shot by Spandine, who then activates the Golden Den Den Mushi. Robin recognizes Olvia as her mother, but Olvia denies it, prompting Robin to admit that she is an archaeologist and can read Poneglyphs. Buster Call begins, and after a tearful reunion with her daughter, Olvia entrusts Saul to Robin’s care.
Professor Clover is allowed to speak with one of the Five Elders and write a report on their research. It describes a civilization that existed hundreds of years ago and disappeared when the World Government took over. He considers the collective evidence that leads him to believe that the government attempted to erase its former enemies from history. Declaring that Ohara has learned too much, the Five Elders order Spandine to kill the professor and order the destruction of the island. Suddenly the library catches fire; while the scholars try to save the books, Robin confesses that he is an archaeologist and bonds with his mother. However, their reunion does not take long. Cannon shots from the Buster Call battleships begin to ring out around them, and Olvia sends her daughter and Saul off the island while she joins the effort to save the library’s knowledge.
