Summary:
Backing Luffy into a corner, Magellan uses his devil fruit powers to poison Luffy. Meanwhile, Bentham tries to save Buggy and Galdin from Vice Governor Hannyabal. Bentham runs away from Magellan and feels like he betrayed Luffy. After running for a while, he comes across a captured Galdin and Buggy. Bentham then jumps down from the beam he was sitting on to fight Hannybal. As Bentham dodges and waits for an opening to attack, Luffy feels the effects of Magellan’s poison mist he unleashed. Luffy tries to blow away the poisonous mist, only to find that Magellan can only make more appear. Just as Luffy goes into Gear Second to make another attack, Magellan summons his Hydra again and Luffy is engulfed in poison, at which point Magellan states that Luffy will suffer for 24 hours before descending into “…true hell”.
From Hannyabal’s side, he admonishes the guards for not letting Buggy and Galdin slip because he wanted to frame Magellan. Buggy is afraid that Hannyabal is stronger and Galdino decides he wants to bite his tongue.
Meanwhile, Luffy feels intense pain in his hands from the last blow against Magellan. The poison seems to be getting to him. Bentham rushes between the guards and demands that they get out of his way. He also uses the Drunken Swan Soiree to make his way through. He despairs knowing that Magellan is unbeatable and all Bentham can do is run away and leave Luffy to his fate.
Luffy’s hands are burning while Magellan says he was knocked to his knees. Noticing that Luffy’s hands are covered in poison, this gives Magellan a huge advantage. Captain Straw Hat gives a determined roar and tries the Twin Jet Pistol to blow the warden back; the latter then shoots a poisonous ball of Venom Blowfish from its mouth, which Luffy dodges. Luffy continues to dodge and tries to Gum-Gum Jet Pistol to blast through the venomous Hydra. Despite his efforts, the poison begins to catch up with Luffy as his attacks are anemic against the warden. He soon finds himself in a poisonous mist that is blown from Magellan’s mouth. A Venom Cloud forms, disorienting Luffy.
Since the mist is part of Magellan, it lives and breathes poison like him. Luffy finds himself slipping, loses concentration and tries the Gum-Gum Balloon to blow the air back out. Soon Luffy’s hands are given away, and in time the poison will rob him of everything. Captain Straw Hat collapses.
In his cell, Ace raises his head.
Galdino is about to bite his tongue, but loses the courage to do so. Hannyabal orders the prisoners removed and Buggy and Galdino are taken against their will. But Bentham uses the Swan Arabesque, catching the guards off guard. He also takes down several more guards, angering Hannyabal, who engages in Mr. 2’s former baroque work. Bentham quickly dodges his attacks, and suddenly the vice-warden finds himself staring at the woman.
Magellan walks over to the downed Luffy and starts walking away. Luffy gets back up as the Warden senses that his enemy is desperate to save Ace. An angry Luffy bangs his head on the floor before attacking again. Magellan grabs the pirate’s arm and knocks him down.
Ace demands the truth from the jailer. But he gets a message that nothing is happening. Jinbe just watches.
Magellan informs Luffy that Ace is facing the death penalty as a notorious criminal. He believes that the young pirate is delusional and thinks that the rescue will be justified. Luffy tries unsuccessfully to hit the warden and burns his leg in the process. The Straw Hat Captain then goes into Stage Two as Magellan launches another Hydra. The two confront Luffy, who wants his brother back. Finally, Magellan tells a defeated Luffy that there is no way to neutralize the amount of poison he has absorbed. For twenty-four hours, Luffy will suffer and eventually die, while Magellan declares it “true hell” while the pirate screams at Ace.
