Summary:
The news of Whitebeard’s death is already spreading around the world. Silvers Rayleigh also hears the news. At Marineford, Teach begins his plan and his crew covers Whitebeard’s corpse with a black curtain for Teach to get under. The scene changes to Jinbe trying to escape and save Luffy. He blinks as Vista informs him that he has to hurry. Down below the cliff, Akainu gets up and continues his pursuit of Luffy. Once above the surface, Akainu stops Ivankov and Inazuma from going after Luffy. They are able to hold their own, but Akainu refuses to let Luffy escape. Back at the Blackbeard Pirates, the black cloth is picked up and Teach shows off his dark powers and newly acquired earthquake powers. Everyone is shocked and Blackbeard lets Marineford, the pirates, and the peaceful civilians know that this is his era.
Whitebeard is now dead. The people of Sabaody look on in shock. Some civilians learn that with Ace and Whitebeard dead, it will shake the foundations of the world. The news spreads around the world; Ace was killed at Marineford and Whitebeard died in a failed attempt to rescue him. With the Marines seemingly victorious, some people are starting to cheer at the news. Rayleigh also watches as she offers Whitebeard a nice trip to the afterlife. As Teach is exhausted, the people learn that Whitebeard’s real name was Edward Newgate, who opposed Gol D. Roger, had a family of pirates, and brought down the walls of Marine HQ. But even his superhuman abilities were nothing against the admirals and the Shichibukai. Doflamingo cheers the news and believes that Teach is quite the thinker.
Sabaody’s crowd begins to wonder if One Piece really exists. When news of Whitebeard’s death gets out, he wonders why Blackbeard is in the equation. Teach takes a few breaths and laughs madly at his triumph. Marco is pushed over the edge but Vista insists on the takedown. As the pirates flee, Vista advises that Jinbe should not be distracted while tending to Luffy, who is still unconscious. Jinbe begs for forgiveness for his failure to save Ace and Whitebeard, but hopes to protect Luffy from further harm. As the marines fire rain cannons, Akainu recovers from his battle with Whitebeard and creates a pool of lava. Buggy screams that his plan to assassinate Whitebeard has failed and plans to flee Marineford. The clown pirate was powerless to even try to surprise Whitebeard during his fight with Teach. Buggy cries that he wants to spend the rest of his life in a hole in the ground. He decides to leave his crew, but the former prisoners believe that Buggy is teaching them sympathy. They begin to cry over their misfortune, but then chase after Buggy, who dropped their Den Den Mushi.
Teach was surprised that it took so long to kill Whitebeard before his new crew cloaked the deceased pirate. Teach insists that everyone, marines and pirates, watch their spectacle and enter the cloak covering both the dead Whitebeard and Teach. Shiryu knows that if their plan fails, they may dissolve. As Jinbe approaches the naval ships, he asks Luffy to continue without Ace. Jinbe remembers what Ace told him in Impel Down. Should he die, Ace asks the Fishman to take care of his brother. He told Ace that he only values a certain number of people. Jinbe carries Luffy away and feels that he has found the answer to Ace’s request. Hancock hoped to heal Luffy, but leaves him and Jinbe in his care. Uses Perfume Femur kicks to disable some pacifists. Hancock also considers pushy men an extreme turnoff. Just as the Marine ship is close, ice covers the water thanks to Aokija and lava flows on the ground. Akainu then demands that all the pirates be killed.
Akainu demands that if he flips Luffy, he can let the others off the hook. Jinbe refuses, determined to protect Luffy. Helmeppo and Koby are horrified that Akainu wants to kill Luffy so badly. As some of the pirates stand to confront Akainu to avenge Whitebeard, Akainu is angered and says that they ran away to let Ace and Whitebeard die. The admiral withstands a few shots and blasts the pirates while Ivankov deploys Emporio Ganmen Seicho Hormone while Inazuma uses Big Scissors to block the lava. Desperate to protect Luffy, Ivankov fires the Hell Wink, believing that Luffy has gone deep since Impel Down. One more mistake and Luffy dies. If that happened, Ivankov would never be able to face Drake again. Akainu insists that Ivankov and Inazuma step aside, but the new Queen Kama is the first to say that there is one fire.
Much of Teach’s crew is becoming impatient to see what Teach has in store for the world. Lafitte announces the grand event to the world, and he and Burgess reveal Teach and the lifeless Whitebeard. Blackbeard then says that the Shichibukai thing he put on was funny and decides to go against the marines. He sucks them into his Black Hole. Teach says that in his right hand is his Dark-Dark Fruit power and in his left hand… he punches and causes a tremor like Whitebeard. As Marineford decays, the Marines fear that eating two Devil Fruits would kill a person, but Teach is somehow able to use two Devil Fruit abilities. Teach’s crew is excited about their captain’s newfound power. After stealing Whitebeard’s powers, Teach causes the world to shake with every step he takes. Marco realizes that Teach is far beyond normal when he uses two devil fruit powers. Teach announces to all the loving humans, pirates, and world government that she must answer to fate, and fate has chosen Teach to rule the world. Helmeppo is horrified that even though Whitebeard is dead, the disaster continues and Teach laughs evilly.
