One Piece Episode 490

Summary:

As Luffy’s fate hangs in the balance, word spreads that the war is over and people around the world rejoice at the news of the Marines’ victory. Behind all the celebrations and cheers, however, there are new troubles on the horizon. Blackbeard is on the move with his new crew members from Level 6 Impel Down. Also, after Whitebeard’s death, the world’s balance has fallen apart, and with his last words confirming the existence of One Piece, pirates around the world are gasping for air. .

Sengoku officially declared the war over. While Marines and people around the world celebrate the Marines’ victory in the war, they lose track of what was really going on. They soon discover that with Whitebeard dead, more ruthless pirates will come ashore and torture people. More pirates now know that One Piece is real, so more pirates begin to form in search of One Piece. Meanwhile, Lieutenant Brannew tells Sengoku about the state of Impel Down. Magellan is badly wounded and blames himself for the defeat. Many of the prisoners escaped, while some were captured by Blackbeard. Sengoku is shocked by the news and tells Brannew to get their files, wanted posters and all their information, but he denies it, saying that the World Government intends to keep it a secret. In response, Sengoku becomes enraged and yells, “To hell with them!”

Elsewhere, in the back alleys of Marineford, Gecko Moria is attacked by pacifists led by Donquijote Doflamingo, who declares that Moria is too weak to continue being a warrior of the sea and that it would be better if people believed he died in the war. When Moria angrily demanded if it was Sengoku’s order, Donquijote told him to try higher. Meanwhile, the other Supernovas (except Luffy and Zoro) witnessed the entire fight in Marineford from their ships far away. Scratchmen Apoo questions why Trafalgar Law, known for his brutality, would save Monkey D. Luffy, stating that there must be a catch. Hawkins thinks it’s strange that the probability of Luffy being alive never reaches zero. Eustass Kid tells his crew that nothing is ending, it is the beginning of a New Era that no one has ever seen.

Meanwhile, in the Heart Pirates submarine, Bepo is feeling really hot because of his fur and wants to surface. After surfacing, Bepo checks to see if all parties are safe, only to discover that a naval ship was alongside them. He also sees Salome and is shocked. Boa Hancock lands in a submarine from a Marine ship and tells them that she has turned all the Marines on the ship to stone. Law comes out and tells her about Luffy’s condition. Emporio Ivankov, along with his fellow escapees from Impel Down, appears on the marine ship and talks about how brave Luffy was and why he lost consciousness. He also asked why Law saved Luffy but before he could say anything Ivankov stopped him saying that sometimes your instincts tell you what to do. Jinbe emerges from the sub, still badly injured, and tells them how shameful he feels for failing to protect anyone dear to him, while Law tells him to rest or the wound might open. The episode ends after Luffy is seen, still in a coma.
