One Piece Episode 588

Summary:

Tashigi tries to find out what happened in the fight. Luffy’s group sees a flying warship. Luffy sees Law and thanks him for saving him two years ago. Law says they’re not friends and Luffy agrees since they were both after One Piece. Law remembers the past between him and Luffy when Law saved him in Marineford. Luffy sees Smoker on the ground. Tashigi cries over Smoker’s body and tries to kill Law, but he changes their hearts.

Meanwhile, the lab kids are complaining about the cold, so the samurai uses his devil fruit to give the kids and the Straw Hats warm clothes. Luffy’s group then meets up with the other group behind the lab. While going over what happened, Robin reveals that Law became a Shichibukai two years ago, and the samurai reveals that Law is the one who chopped him into thirds and joined his legs. Law meets Caesar Clown, who Smoker speculates is behind everything on the island.

The smoker lies motionless in the snow. As Law walked away with the heart he pulled out. The Marines took this chance and ran towards Smoker.

Luffy, Robin, Zoro, and Usopp are riding on Brownbeard’s back when they spot a warship and speculate that marines are nearby. Luffy calls out to someone Usopp saw in the distance, asking if he remembers him and thanking him. Zoro recalls meeting him when they were on the Sabaody Archipelago, and Robin identifies him as Trafalgar Law, but before he can finish his sentence, Luffy interrupts and tells his crew that Law helped him escape the battlefield and treated his injuries , saving his life. Luffy eagerly runs to Law and thanks him again, wondering where his crewmates are. Recalling the events of two years ago, Law tells Luffy that he doesn’t need to thank him and reminds him not to forget that they are both pirates. Luffy laughs and agrees that when it comes to fighting for One Piece, everyone is an enemy. Usopp sees a Marine on the ground and seems to know who it is. The marines run to Smoker and Luffy seems to remember Tashigi. Tashigi reaches Smoker and notices a hole in his chest. He remembers the method Law used to gain his position and cries, screaming angrily as he runs to Law. However, Law says he doesn’t like “lame jerk scenes” and uses his powers to switch hearts between Tashigi and Smoker. Usopp urges Luffy to leave as the marines are approaching. Before leaving, Luffy tells Law that he wants to ask him something. Law’s response is for them to go to the back of the lab, saying they’ll find what they’re looking for there and see each other again, as they both have something they want to get. However, it turns out that the instructions are meant for Brownbeard.

Out in the open, in the mountain near the lab, the children are freezing. The samurai orders everyone to put something on their heads. When it’s done, he concentrates and screams. Smoke surrounds them and coats magically appear on them. Everyone is stunned and the samurai explains that after consuming the unusual fruit, he is able to disguise anyone as he sees fit. He warns them that the clothes will disappear if they take off their clothes. Children flock to him gratefully. However, Franky questions the tardiness of his actions and slaps him, leading him to explain that he was enjoying the sight of Nami in the bib, earning him another slap from Nami herself.

Luffy’s group appears in the distance and they reunite. They seek shelter inside the building. Samurai is excited to get his legs back, while Luffy is depressed at his loss. Nami offers Sanji some cigarettes and the law-affected Straw Hats reintroduce themselves to Luffy. They recount all the events that happened, get more information from the samurai and the children to piece it all together. Luffy is surprised that Law is now a Shichibukai, which Robin knew. When Luffy mentions that the samurai’s feet cursed the Shichibukai, Nami questions how he can speak. Samurai explains that he was talking through farts and it’s his specialty.

In another cave, the marines gather around Tashigi, who is in Smoker’s body, which is functioning without his heart. Smoker mentions that the ship hidden next to the lab has a “CC” marking on it. He further explains that if it was an old ship, the initials on it should be ‘PH’, which would stand for Punk Hazard. Smoker reveals that the person referred to by the initials “CC” is Dr. Vegapunk’s former colleague, a scientist named Caesar Clown.

The gas slowly takes shape bit by bit and asks Law what he did, to which Law replies that he should be the one to complain.
