One Piece Episode 622

Summary:

The Straw Hat Pirates and the Marines are about to taste a large meal prepared by Sanji, though the Marines are still adamant about not befriending the pirates. Many events occurred during the construction of the stove; Kin’emon was actually alive the whole time, Law removed the drug from the children, Momonosuke’s human form is revealed, Nami granted Tashigi’s plea to let her take care of the children, Mocha fully recovered from the drug overdose, and the poison gas proved fatal after all-day effect.

As the group celebrates their victory, Smoker talks to Law about manipulating Luffy, but Law says it’s the other way around. Earlier, during their meeting in the mountains, Law revealed his goal to defeat Kaida with Luffy’s help, but Luffy expressed his desire to defeat all four emperors.

The marines draw a line to separate themselves from the pirates, saying they might have a tanker but warning them not to cross the line. Smoker asks the soldiers why they went so far since the order was simply not to mess with them. A soldier replies that he must be thorough, while another makes an exception for the medical squad. Smoker tells them he made it to the G-5 base and the ship is on its way. Luffy talks to Brownbeard, who decided to turn himself in because the marines cured him of the poisons and other chemicals that Caesar Clown put into his body. Luffy says it’s bad because they just became friends. The marines yell at Luffy for crossing the line they created and Luffy tells them that they just made up the rule when they were next to him. Meanwhile, Sanji and Brook are laying bricks on the barbecue pit. Brownbeard goes on to say that he has no friends left and that being in prison is better than being Caesar’s guinea pig.

Just then, Chopper screams and accuses Law of being the killer. Franky tells him to stop, almost dropping the mast he is raising. He then proceeds to help the Marines repair the tanker’s damaged mast. He adds that they should have told him the tanker was important so he could move his fight from earlier away from him and not have to repair it like he does now. Chopper tells Luffy to stop him, continuing to yell about the killer, saying that he means Law. Brook also screams, much to Luffy and Sanji’s annoyance. Brook tells them that he broke Kin’emon and feels remorse even though the samurai is already dead. Kin’emon’s shell begins to crack, revealing the samurai inside. Luffy, Sanji, and Brook all yell at him in shock and Kin’emon yells right at them. Sanji angrily kicks him, asking how he could possibly be alive. When Brook calls Sanji’s actions unwarranted, the chef replies that the samurai deserved to not be dead as he should have been. Father and son are finally reunited and Momonosuke jumps into his father’s arms. Luffy is somewhat surprised to see a boy and not the dragon he recognized. For whatever reason, Momonosuke is missing his outfit, but he soon gets an outfit similar to his father’s, as well as a proper introduction as a kid from Wano Country. Shortly after their reunion, Momonosuke passes out, apparently from hunger.

Chopper yells at Law to come out and demands to know what he was doing with the kids in the infirmary. Law tells him to mind his own business as he’s done taking them apart now. This answer scares Chopper to no end and he runs into the infirmary, with Law adding that he had to methodically treat them because of all the chemicals they were exposed to. Inside the infirmary, Chopper is met with enthusiastic greetings from all the children. They tell him that the man in the fluffy hat (Law) has taken all the drugs and chemicals from their bodies and they are all completely cured. They said being in pieces was cool but scary. The only one who hasn’t woken up yet is Mocha. As the facts begin to fall into place, the children realize that their “master” was a bad person and that Mocha was partly responsible for saving them. One child says his memory of the events is still fuzzy, but that Mocha collapsed after coughing up blood. Another kid asks if Mocha is going to be okay. Chopper assures her that Mocha will be fine and they will all go home. They then ask to see Nami, calling her the Orange Lady and remembering her original promise to save them. Just as they say this, a woman walks in the door. It is revealed to be Tashigi, and she tells the children that they are now under the protection and supervision of the Marines, much to their disappointment. They also want to see a robot (Franky) and a rubber man (Luffy).

Outside, Usopp catches a whiff of what Sanji is cooking and looks forward to eating. He then turns to Nami and asks her if she was the one who asked the marines to take care of the children. She tells him yes. As a pirate, she says saving people is not her forte. Usopp agrees and says they would be charged with kidnapping anyway. Nami agrees, recalling Tashigi tearfully asking her to leave the children in her care, adding that she is terrible at dealing with marines as Tashigi tries to write down the names of several disgruntled children. Nami goes on to say that she can’t deal with marines because she feels too safe around them because they remind her of her mother, Usopp remembers that her mother was a marine. He adds that it’s best for them to be cared for by strong marines, and Usopp agrees. Nami calls him a pushover and Usopp says she’s the one talking.

Sanji had just finished making a large pot of braised sea pork, one of Newkama Kenpo’s 99 recipes. He pours a bowl and hands it to Momonosuke; when he heard that the boy had not eaten for several days. Sanji advises him to start slowly eating the goulash, which is just one of the many dishes presented to him. However, Momonosuke’s samurai pride takes over and he declares that he is not hungry. He’s about to throw away the stew when Sanji grabs him by the collar and says he won’t forgive anyone who wastes food, not even a child. They are interrupted by Kin’emon, who has started eating, visibly in awe of how good the food is. He tells Momonosuke that it is safe to eat and not be ashamed of it, saying that the person who made it can be completely trusted and there is nothing to fear. Momonosuke begins to eat, tears streaming down his cheeks. Luffy thinks the food tastes so good it made Momonosuke cry, but Sanji tells him it’s because of something else and wonders what happened. Everyone, marines, former henchmen, children, and straw hat pirates are now lining up to get some of Sanji’s cooking. Sanji asks what happened to the whole dividing line idea and is told by the soldiers that there is a truce. Hearing this, Zoro asks the marine to get some alcohol from the tanker, with the kid asking for juice, and the soldier happily obliges.

Law tells Luffy that they have to leave now because they could easily be attacked if they hang around like they are. Luffy tells him he understands and then yells “Party time!”, much to Law’s confusion. Everyone is enjoying themselves at the party. Luffy and Brook eat with the samurai and are joined by several children. Zoro happily toasts with one of the marines. Chopper is in tears when Mocha wakes up and Robin is nearby drinking soup with one of the kids. The kids have fun chatting with Nami, climbing on Tashigi, and watching Usopp show off Franky’s many traits. Some soldiers approach Smoker and tell him they are going back to the island. When Smoker asks why, they tell him that they got Caesar to tell them about Shinokuni’s weakness and that their comrades can still be saved. With pincers on his cheeks and tears in his eyes, Caesar asks why Smoker is still alive. Further from the party, Smoker and Law are talking. Smoker admits that he never thought Law would keep his end of the bargain, as Law could have killed him on several occasions, but didn’t. He also comments on his plan to use the Straw Hats to start something with one of the Four Emperors. Law replies that he wonders who the abused person really is and recalls his conversation with Luffy. He tells Luffy that they will go after Kaidou. Luffy tells him that the order doesn’t matter as long as Shanks isn’t first because he’ll take them all down in the end.
