Summary:
While Zoro searches for his lost katana, Sanji finds himself meeting a beautiful and stunning dancer named Violet, who desperately needs Sanji’s services.
Meanwhile, Luffy and Franky arrive at the Coliseum to marry the Mera Mera no Mi and to their surprise they meet a strange soldier like man with one leg as they all sign up for a big tournament that is going on.
The announcer pulls back the cloth on the display next to him to reveal Mera Mera no Mi and declares that it will go to the winner. The audience is horrified for a moment, but immediately starts cheering again. The announcer goes on to say that the king has brought out warriors from all over the New World. But getting this prize is not an easy task, but they are not ordinary fighters. He then gestures to the TV screen and introduces the participants from the Donquijote family: Senor Pink, Dellinger, Lao G and Machvise. He then introduces the current operator of the Diamante Coliseum. The crowd is now buzzing with excitement and eager for the matches to begin.
The man tells Luffy and Franky how valuable the Mera Mera no Mi is and Luffy states that he wishes to own it. Franky comments that this may be a trick by Donquixote Doflamingo, but it’s not a situation they should go through. They decide to escape and enter the Colosseum.
Meanwhile, Zoro is running around looking for whatever stole his sword. Sanji is seen running after him, but is distracted by a beautiful dancer. After Sanji notices that Zoro has run away, he approaches him. She hugs him tightly and hides them both from the soldiers who are walking around looking for her. Violet says she stabbed a man so she’s wanted. Sanji faints at the thought and Violet asks him to be his bodyguard until they go to the next town. He asks her to help him kill the man.
Luffy and Franky arrive at the Corrida Colosseum and look on. He then sees the policemen chasing the One-Legged Soldier before he puts one foot into the Coliseum. By law, the police cannot intervene if they are there. A soldier jumps down and offers Luffy and Franky to help with their luggage. He then tells Luffy about the contest and Luffy prepares to enter to get Ace’s Devil Fruit.
In the manga, when Gatz talked about the gladiators who would be competing in the tournament, generic silhouettes were used to represent them. Instead, the anime showed some of the participants who will be introduced later.
The following are added in the anime:
Another scene where Zoro uses Kenbunshoku Haki to find the fairy that stole his sword.
After the dance, Violet throws Sanji a rose, which he tucks into his breast pocket.
While searching for Kanjura, Kin’emon was distracted by a vegetable merchant.
Sanji and Violet go to a restaurant and Sanji cooks her food.
There are several mistranslations of the Spanish language: Diamante’s name was written as Dia Mante on the monitor screen, and the place where Violet danced (Bar Bailarina) should be called Una Muchacha del Baile instead of Uma Mucha Cha Del Baile.
