Summary:
Zoro, Kin’emon, and Kanjuro head out to stop the Birdcage while Luffy continues to fight Doflamingo. However, Shichibukai reveals that his Devil Fruit has awakened and overpowers Luffy by turning the surrounding area into string. Meanwhile, the people on Dressrose continue to flee the Birdcage, but are beginning to lose hope. However, Riku Doldo III cheers them up by revealing that only Doflamingo is left standing and that Luffy will free them.
Luffy’s Gear 4 punch sends Doflamingo flying through several buildings and the citizens below stare in awe and decide to cheer for Luffy despite not knowing who he is. In the Flower Field, Cavendish watches Luffy’s new form in amazement, but Law says that Luffy is overusing his Haki, confusing Cavendish. On the roof of the palace, Jesus Burgess looks for Luffy and sees him bouncing around the city. Hiding behind a pile of rubble, Koala remembers Burgess from the Corrida Coliseum and wonders what she wants with Luffy. Meanwhile, Viola, Hack and Usopp have reached the Corrida Colosseum and Viola contacts Riku Dolda III. Doldo asks if Doflamingo is the only one left, which Viola confirms.
In the streets below, Zoro runs towards the Birdcage when he is confronted by Kin’emon and Kanjuro. The samurai reveals that he is going in the wrong direction and is told to mount Kanjuro’s sparrow, which is trying to kidnap the two samurai. Zoro steps in, causing the sparrow to strain extremely hard to fly again. Meanwhile, the Birdcage reaches the SMILE factory and Franky sees this and tells the dwarves inside to evacuate the destroyed facility. As they exit the factory, they realize that the Birdcage isn’t cutting it, which Franky realizes because it’s made of Seastone. Zoro and the samurai then arrive and Franky tells them that the center of the city is on the other side. However, Zoro reveals his intention to stop the Birdcage, leaving the dwarves stunned. As the three swordsmen fly away, Franky thinks about their plan and gets an idea.
Meanwhile, Luffy is floating in the air looking at Doflamingo who is still on the ground thinking about Luffy’s Gear 4 abilities. Luffy decides to end Doflamingo now to avoid overusing Gear 4 and Doflamingo stands up and comments that Luffy has to take a long time to retain this form. Luffy brings both fists into his forearms to unleash a powerful attack, but Doflamingo suddenly blocks it by creating two waves of string from the ground. Luffy is shocked by Doflamingo’s sudden movement and the Shichibukai reveals that his Devil Fruit has awakened, allowing him to turn his surroundings into a string. Doflamingo turns more and more buildings into strings and attacks Luffy, who comments that it makes Doflamingo’s fruit no longer look like a Paramecia and is unable to overcome the constant barrage of strings.
The residents of Dressrosa continue to escape the birdcage, but those unable to escape properly find the cage catching up with them, and the mother has lost her son. People are trapped under the rubble and medics continue to carry people out of the hospital, begging the running citizens to help them. One man decides to sit on the ground and gives up hope of being saved. Suddenly, Doldo is broadcast to the entire island. He reminds them that the shrinking birdcage was not a dream and says that they have been under the cage since Doflamingo took it over ten years ago. However, every member of the Donquixote Pirates except Doflamingo himself was shot down and Luffy was just fighting Doflamingo. Doldo tells the citizens that their nightmare will soon be over and urges them to keep running from the Birdcage regardless of their condition as there was still hope. This encourages people and the disabled start running again despite their illnesses. Citizens, marines and pirates alike begin to help free people from the wreckage and carry away the hospitalized people knowing they will be saved as Luffy continues his fight against Doflamingo.
