Summary:
After being defeated, Luffy is sent to prison in the Udon region. Kiku returns to the mountain where Oden Castle was destroyed and finds that the group there has managed to escape the destruction. Franky, Robin, Usopp and Zoro read the news about Luffy’s fight with Kaida. Inuarashi and his group discover Tama alive and take her to the forest.
In Udon prison, Luffy meets Kid again.
After defeating Luffy, Kaidou orders his men to imprison him. However, even while unconscious, Luffy is able to use Haoshoku Haki to knock out the goons. Despite this, Kaidou transforms into his dragon form and returns to Onigashima.
After escaping from Hawkins, Law ends up in the woods, still wounded by the nail. However, Hawkins finds Luffy and arrests him. Meanwhile, the town of Okobore was destroyed by Kaidou’s attack. Tsuru tends to an injured old man, where Kin’emon sees her in disguise for the first time in twenty years. He also sees Doji passing by.
Kiku finds a giant sinkhole where Oden’s castle used to be. They discover that the straw hats were inside; Shinobu used her Devil Fruit to disintegrate the ground and create a sinkhole. The Straw Hats ducked and dodged Kaidou’s Bolo breath and Chopper used his guard point to save the others from falling. Meanwhile, Inuarashi finds Tamino’s unconscious body; she survived Kaidou’s attack and was still breathing.
Luffy’s wanted posters are posted all over the country and the Straw Hats are shocked that Luffy fought Kaidou.
Luffy is taken to Udon, an industrial district of Wano Country, to be forced into slavery. One particularly dangerous prisoner who is hidden away is fed poisonous fish, but the guards are instructed to remove the bones first. However, the Watcher does not. Luffy walks through and stares at the guards. One guard taunts him and attacks him, but an unknown prisoner spits a sharp fish bone at him and stabs him in the neck. Luffy is sent to his cell and finds Eustace Kid, who also swears revenge on Kaidou. They instantly recognize each other, ending the first act of the Wano Country Arc.
The anime adds the following:
Before the unconscious Luffy uses Haoshoku Haki, Kaidou expresses his disrespect for the Worst Generation.
The law is shown walking through the woods after escaping from Hawkins.
The Beasts Pirates are shown engaging Luffy.
A flashback of Shinobu saving the group at Oden’s castle is shown.
The scene where the Beast Pirates drag Luffy to the Udon prison.
It turns out that Tonoyasu is on the same ship that Zoro was on.
When Kiku discovered the hole Shinobu made in the manga, Sanji, Shinobu, Nami, and Carrot were not in the hole with the rest of the group.
The scene where Zoro reads the news about Luffy is extended.
Unlike the manga, Kawamatsu has a clearer silhouette to show what he looks like in his first appearance.
The prison where Luffy and Kid were imprisoned did not have a wall between them in the anime.
The guard that was stabbed by the fish bone did not bleed, unlike in the manga.
