Summary:
Under the Roger Pirates, Oden travels through many distant lands, reaching Skypiea, Water 7, the Sabaody Archipelago, and Fish-Man Island. Along the way, he finds Poneglyphs that will bring his crew closer to reaching the end of the Great Line.
Roger contracted a terminal illness and knew he had less than a year to live. Still, his crew continued their adventures, merrily singing Binks’ Sake on their way to Sky Island. Roger Pirates went up Knock Up Stream, entered Skypiea and found the old golden city of Shandora. There they found his national treasure, the bell tower and the Poneglyph. The Poneglyph told of a certain weapon called the Poseidon located on Fish-Man Island. They decided not to steal the bell, but left behind a carved message that Roger had reached the sky island. Continuing on their journeys, they left Skypie using the octopus balloon to bring the ship down safely.
There was a Road Poneglyph in both the land of Zou and Wano, and Roger had already obtained a copy of another Poneglyph belonging to Big Mom, so the Roger Pirates had already found three of the four Poneglyphs needed to find the final island. They sailed to Water 7, where they suspected the remaining Poneglyph was located, where they met Tom, the creator of their ship.
They continued their adventure to the Red Line where they found the Sabaody Archipelago and Fish-Man Island under the sea. His King Neptune explains that Poseidon’s weapon is a certain mermaid born every few hundred years with the ability to control sea kings. Shyarly, the fortune teller of the kingdom, states that this mermaid will be born in ten years. Roger decided to continue on his way, his crew still merrily singing Binks’ Sake.
The anime adds the following:
