The Risky brothers explain to Luffy that they too have had their shadows taken and have taken refuge in the forest. However, they are overjoyed at the chaos the straw pirates have brought to Thriller Bark, with three of the Mysterious Four now out of the equation. They are also aware of the danger posed by special zombies; Oars. Determined to get their shadows back, they beg Luffy to defeat the special zombies and Moria, but not without offering some help. Before Luffy can react, a trapped shadow slams into his body. They get black circles under their eyes and ask Luffy if he can use the sword to which he says he has no chance, only to be handed the sword and easily cut down a nearby tree.
Surprised by what he just did, the Rolling Pirates explain that if a shadow is placed in a living body, they gain the abilities of the shadow’s original owner, but since it is not their own shadow, they can only retain the abilities for ten minutes. . Deciding to put all their hopes in the young pirate, they pull out all the shadows they’ve captured over the years and implant them all into Luffy. Taking all one hundred of them, the Rolling Pirates can only watch in awe as the giant silhouette comments on how powerful he feels. When Lola names him ‘Nightmare Luffy’, he runs towards the mansion and destroys the forest in his way.
However, in the courtyard of the mansion, the fight against Oars takes a turn for the worst as he continues to use his newfound stretching abilities. When they attack the Straw Hat Pirates with Gomu Gomu no Kane and are immediately followed by Gomu Gomu no Yari, they are confused by his sudden increase in power and ask Moria how he is stretching. Warlord explains that this is the result of the power of his Devil Fruit, Kage Kakumei. With it, he is able to change the shape of the shadow; which in turn changes the shape of matter. Chopper compares it to nature going backwards, and Moria demonstrates the limit of this power by turning the oars into a giant ball, the Oars Ball. Frustrated by his master’s interference, Oars asks him to stop controlling him and allow himself to fight. They promise the oars to provide support and go to resume the fight. Nami asks where Luffy went, only for Usopp to mention Moria tricking him into getting lost. As she wonders if she should let the others know that there was another warrior on the island, Brook interrupts her with an idea.
Through a combination of Usopp’s Kuwagata, Nami’s Dark Cloud Tempo, Robin’s Slalom Vines, and Brook’s Gavotte Bond en Avant, they perform the Raikotsuken Team Combo Technique: Gavotte Bond en Avant, which penetrates directly through the right shoulder of the oar. Zoro congratulates Brook on his efforts and continues with his own attack, cutting Oars’ body vertically with Nigiri: Toro. Instead of focusing on Zoro now, Oars instead finishes off Brook with Gomu Gomu no Ono.
Trying to defend the skeleton, Usopp attacks with Hissatsu: Atlas Suisei, which only serves to further anger the oar as he blocks projectiles with his arms. When the Gomu Gomu no Bazooka is launched, the giant immediately realizes that it is no longer stretching. Upon interrogation, it is revealed that Robin has caught Moria using Ochenta Fleur: Cuatro Manos and threatens him to stop controlling Oars’ shadow.
