Summary:
Minks Carrot and Wanda leave the Straw Hats and the Law to stop Luffy from invading the Whale Forest and attacking the Rangers. Luffy comes into conflict with two Rangers named Roddy and Blackback, but Wanda and Carrot intervene. Meanwhile, the Straw Hats and Law walk through Kurau City and see signs of recent heavy damage, which Wanda reveals is from an attack by Jack as she prepares to take Luffy to his crewmates who came to Zou earlier.
Luffy races through the abandoned city of Kurau looking for Sanji, Nami, Chopper, Brook, Momonosuke and Caesar the Clown. He then enters the Whale Forest and is amazed by the giant whale-shaped tree in the middle. Luffy walks through the trees but is unknowingly followed by a mink named Pedro. Meanwhile, a mink dog named Wanda stops her mink Carrot from attacking the Straw Hats, saying that they need to deal with an intruder in the Whale Forest. Usopp notices that Wanda is wearing Nami’s clothes and becomes paranoid; Robin suggests that the Minks might be cannibals, which horrifies Usopp even more. Meanwhile, Luffy explores the Whale Forest, but is suddenly confronted by two minks. Carrot then jumps a very high distance to investigate the Whale Forest, shocking the Straw Hats with her powers and seeing that there is a disturbance there. He goes back down and climbs onto Wanda’s steed Wany, and Wanda instructs the Straw Hats to get to the forest on the right flank, where they find the corpse of their crewman, which horrifies them. Wanda and Carrot drive towards the Whale Forest, with Wanda revealing that the pirates they just met are the Straw Hat Pirates and that Luffy is probably an intruder in the Whale Forest. However, the Guardians may show him no mercy despite who he is.
Meanwhile, Usopp is freaking out about the minks and what happened to their crew, and Robin just continues to assume the worst about the minks. However, Zoro and Franky are certain that their crew members are safe, and Robin asks Law if his colleagues are there as well. Law confirms this, though he hadn’t planned a way to get to them, thinking he’d never see them again, but he realizes he’s in possession of Bepo’s Vivre Card. Law reveals to the Straw Hats that Bepo is a mink, but left Zoa at a young age, and the pirates follow the direction the Vivre card points.
In the Whale Forest, Luffy encounters a bull mink named Roddy; two heads as Roddy discharges electrical energy. Luffy and Roddy fight evenly, with both sides managing to fend off the other. The other Guardian, a mink gorilla named Blackback, wonders how Roddy’s electro doesn’t work on Luffy, who reveals to them that he’s made of rubber. Luffy and Roddy continue to fight when suddenly Bepo, Jean Bart, Shachi and Penguin arrive on the scene. They recognize Luffy and tell Roddy to stop attacking because Luffy is a friend, but Roddy refuses. Jean Bart tries to force break the two, but an angry Blackback knocks him over. Enraged, Roddy mounts another attack, but Wanda and Carrot then arrive and throw a flying object to distract Roddy and bananas to pacify Blackback. Luffy asks Wanda why they were attacking him, and Wanda reveals that the Guardians are tasked with keeping intruders out of the Whale Forest. Wanda then talks to Pedro, who is standing in the treetop, apologizing for Luffy’s intrusion and telling him to call the guard. Pedro does so and the large number of Guardians who had secretly surrounded Luffy scatter; Luffy is confused because he doesn’t know they were there, and Wanda tells him to be glad this wasn’t a moonlit night. Luffy then meets the Heart Pirates, who are at first confused by him calling Law as “Torao”, but are happy to find out that their captain is here.
Meanwhile, the Straw Hats and Law travel through the city of Kurau, noting the massive damage and lack of anyone here. Robin, Zoro, and Law look around the various buildings as Usopp continues to panic, and the Straw Hats see large claw marks on the buildings, large marks on the ground, and a torture device with blood on it. Robin then reveals that whatever caused this damage was only a week or two ago, meaning Sanji and the others were probably involved. Meanwhile, Wanda reveals to Luffy that the earth was destroyed by Jack, while Wanda and Carrot emotionally reminisce about the bloodshed that happened recently. Suddenly the ground begins to shake and the minks prepare for the coming eruptive rain. Wanda tells Luffy to get on Wany and take him to his friends, and Luffy is excited to see Sanji and the others. However, Wanda is unable to confirm his statement and Luffy wonders what is wrong.
