One Piece Episode 649

Summary:

Luffy’s battle with Chinjae rages forward as they both use Busoshoku Haki in the ongoing fight. During the match, Chinjao explains and then a flashback occurs where his head was acting as a powerful drill. After some time, he lost a duel against Garp and had a suppressed drill in his head, which was ultimately a major factor in his loss of fame, money and power.

After a flashback, Luffy and Chinjao prepare for their final showdown. At the end, Luffy punches a fist infused with Busoshoku Haki into Chinjao’s head, returning it to its drill form. Chinjao falls unconscious and breaks the platform in two as a result of landing headfirst on it. Lucy is announced as the winner of Block C.

The crowd is excited and Gatz is impressed with the fight, commenting on the speed of the fight and how he is at a loss for words when trying to describe it, calling it one of the greatest fights to ever take place in the coliseum. Back at the arena, Chinjao berates Luffy for being like the rest of his generation and having a big head just because he is labeled as part of the “worst generation”, saying that they are nothing compared to his generation. Chinjao then surprises Luffy by telling him that he knows Blackbeard, further telling Luffy that he is not ready to fight him and that he should just give up piracy. He then berates Rayleigh for believing that Luffy could lead the way for a new generation, calls him out of range, then praises the marines for killing Ace, which makes Luffy extremely angry.

Chinjao then tells Luffy to go down and receive the “baptism of fire”, saying that the anger he has built up at Garp over the past 30 years will make Luffy feel the full weight of his power.

Chinjao continues to tell Luffy about the events of 30 years ago, where it is revealed that he used to have a pointy head and was once on a continent of ice that could not be broken by fire or brute force. Some thieves are seen trying to break through the ice to get their hands on the treasures that lay beneath, but all their efforts were in vain. Chinjao then appears and tells them that to break through the exterior you must focus incredible power into a single point. He proceeds to do so and actually break the ice and send the robbers into a sudden chasm and into the sea or the treasure. Chinjao then orders his crew to tie up the treasure hunters and throw them into the sea, before declaring that with luck and fortune, he can find everything he desires in life in the freezing room. It turns out that the room is filled with several hundred years worth of Chinjao’s clan treasures, and that the “key” to getting into the room is his drill head. Later on another island, Chinjao and Garp meet and taunt each other before dueling, Garp throwing a Haki-infused fist to counter Chinjao’s Haki-infused head. Both men seem to put all their strength into these attacks, and Garp emerges victorious as his punch pushes Chinjao’s spiked forehead back into his skull, surprising his crew and forcing them to retreat. After recovering, Chinjao, rendered speechless by having no point in his skull, travels to the ice continent again, but this time, to his dismay, he fails to break the ice no matter how hard he tries. His crew pleads with him to stop, and he does so, crying that he is no longer able to reach his gigantic wealth, then curses Garp that he will never forgive him or his grandchildren.

Chinjao finishes his memories after he stopped being a pirate, but Luffy says that it has nothing to do with him, as he should talk to his grandfather about his grudge. Luffy finally moves and hits Chinjao in the stomach with the Gomu Gomu no Hawk Rifle. The crowd seems to be cheering for him while Chinjao seems to cough up some blood from said attack. After Chinjao falls and hits his head after taking Luffy’s devastating attack, he quickly gets up and compliments Luffy on his fighting prowess, to which Luffy replies that he will not lose to Chinjao.

Chinjao then asks Luffy if he thinks he has what it takes to defeat the admirals, yonk and succeed Roger. Enraged by these rhubarbs, Luffy grabs Chinjao’s head and uses the Gomu Gomu no Rocket to launch himself into the air, surprising Gatz, the crowd, and Chinjao.

Chinjao then silently promises Garp that he will take his precious grandson’s life, and as he fills his skull with Hakim, he demands that Luffy regret what his grandfather did, robbing him of everything with a single punch. However, Luffy is in no mood to feel sorry for Chinjao, saying that his grandfather had hit him more times than he could count. Chinjao then ascends to meet Luffy’s headbutt and the two powers collide, with Luffy’s punch causing Chinjao’s skull to grow into a spike like years ago, completely stunning the crowd. The force of Luffy’s punch sends Chinjao hurtling towards the coliseum arena and his new point is able to break the floor, surprising everyone even more, Chinjao then technically falls out of the board and out of the fight, leaving Luffy the winner. C block battle royale.

Elsewhere, Cavendish notes that the next time he meets Luffy, he won’t let him get away, though Bartolomeo reminds him that he won’t let him kill Luffy, to which Cavendish states that if he gets in his way, he will suffer his wrath as well. . All this is overheard by Bellamy, while Jesus Burgess is surprised that the winner of the C block battle royale is Straw Hat Luffy.
