One Piece Episode 478

Summary:

With his newly restored strength, Luffy proceeds to the execution platform to rescue Ace and is warned by Ivankov that the hormones will only trick his body. He is stopped by a number of marines who tell him he won’t pass. They are easily distracted. Koby sees this as he continues to fight him in memory of his promise, but Luffy easily defeats him with Gomu Gomu no Bullet. While Luffy and Ivankov are soon stopped by the Pacifists, Boa Hancock comes to their aid and stops the Pacifists from attacking Luffy and Ivankov. A weakened Whitebeard is further weakened by Akainu as he is attacked by a number of marines. Marco is detained by Admiral Kizaru and Jozu is frozen by Aokiji. A weakened Whitebeard says he cannot die until he sees “a future for his sons”. With a new set of executioners ready, Sengoku orders the execution to begin, but they are stopped by Luffy’s Haki blast. The episode ends with everyone commenting on Luffy’s power.

Luffy regained his power just as the new executioners are ready. Ivankov confronts Luffy that the energy hormones won’t repair the damage he took, but Luffy claims that he “won’t fall again”. Two executioners prepare to execute Ace. Ivankov tries to calm Luffy down but fails and decides to protect the now rushing Luffy. Luffy is stopped by several marines, which he defeats, but without stopping. Ivankov clears his way, but Koby appears soon after, remembering the time he first met Luffy and decides to fight Luffy for his dream. However, he is easily defeated by one punch from Luffy and ponders his lack of power as he falls unconscious.

Luffy and Ivankov are soon stopped by two pacifists, but stop their attack when Boa Hancock gets in their way, recognizing her as an ally, giving them both enough time to get away. Hancock then dreams of Luffy as he is outraged that the pacifists call her her name. Whitebeard is weakened after Akainu’s attack and Marco tries to help but is attacked by Kizaru. Marco regenerates and rushes to Whitebeard’s aid, but Kizaru sends Onigum to place the Seastone on Marco, allowing Kizaru to brutally damage him. At the same time, Jozu is completely frozen out by Aokiji, who claims that the Whitebeard Pirates are “falling one by one”.

Sengoku orders a large number of marines to attack Whitebeard, who is mercilessly shot and hacked. His worried crew rush to his aid, but he orders them to stay away, stating that, “He won’t be defeated that easily,” unleashing his massive power and quickly dispatching all the marines around him. Sengoku again orders Whitebeard to be attacked while wounded, causing Whitebeard to laugh and claim that he cannot die before he “sees a future for his sons”. As the marines try to attack him, Jinbe and the commanders cover his back. Seeing this, Squard claims to redeem himself in his own way. Sengoku taunts him, claiming to “show him the future” and ordering his execution. Whitebeard tries to use his Haki, but succumbs to the effects of injury and old age.

Luffy tries to fight his way through but is stopped by the marines. Desperate, he unleashes an extremely powerful Haoshoku Haki blast that knocks out the executioner and many of the marines and pirates around, much to everyone’s shock, meanwhile Luffy is still advancing towards the execution platform.
