One Piece Episode 398

Summary:

Sengoku sends Admiral Kizaru to defend the honor of the Sky Dragons in the Sabaody Archipelago. Meanwhile, Silvers Rayleigh helps Camie before Luffy, Kid and Law deal with the growing presence of marines outside the auction house.

Word quickly spreads throughout the Sabaody Archipelago that Monkey D. Luffy has struck the World Noble Saint Charlos at the Human Auction House, and the residents fear for their lives, knowing that the Admiral of the Marines is likely coming. Capone Bege and Jewelry Bonney leave and Bonney vows to destroy Luffy in the New World for cutting short her fun in Sabaody. X Drake, Urouge, Scratchmen Apoo, and Basil Hawkins also prepare their crews, but want to observe before leaving. In Mary Geoise, Sengoku receives a report of the attack confirming up to five supernovae (including Zoro, Eustass Kid, Killer and Trafalgar Law). Admiral Kizaru, who is present, tells Sengoku that he will take care of it and it won’t take long.

Back at the Auction House, Disco reports to Donquixote Doflamingo about the ambush and escape of slaves awaiting sale. However, Doflamingo has decided that slavery is passé and washes his hands of the Auction House. He says “smiles” are the future and leaves the situation as a Disco problem. He notes that he has been called into action as a Warlord of the Sea to prepare for the war against Whitebeard. The Marines surrounded the Auction House with weapons and mortars, with reports that Kizaru was coming with a “special vanguard”.

Inside, while Chopper tends to Hatchan’s gunshot wound, Pirates Kid, Heart, and Slam Hat watch as an old man who appeared from behind the scenes tends to Camie. He says he will take off the mermaid’s collar, causing some around to freak out as they know what will happen when it explodes. Franky is backstage looking for the keys. However, the old man starts the timer on the exploding collar. As soon as Franky gets the keys backstage, there’s an explosion. Camie is fine and the collar is gone, leaving everyone present (except Franky) speechless. When Pappag reunites with Camie, Franky throws the keys to the other potential slaves.

The others wonder who the old man is and how he seemingly knocked out most of the crowd without saying a word. Hatchan says the old man used a power called “haki”. The old man notes how strong all the pirates present are, having endured. Eustass Kid reveals who the old man is: “The Dark King” Silvers Rayleigh, himself once a very notorious pirate. Rayleigh tells them not to say who he is and insists that he’s just a paint specialist now. He thanks Luffy for saving his “old friend” Hatchan and says that the conversation he suggested can wait until they escape. The marines outside demand the surrender of the current supernovas, labeling Trafalgar Law and the Kid as complicit in Luffy’s actions. Rayleigh leaves the escape to the rookies present and Kid, Luffy, and Law leave, the three of them arguing about how each of them could overcome the current siege alone.

As those still inside prepare to leave, Camie tells Pappago not to regret going to Sabaody Park, the act that got them into this mess in the first place; Pappag says that Luffy told him as well. Rayleigh tells the others that they will meet at Grove 13 (where Shakky’s Rip-Off Bar is) after they escape. The other escaped slaves thank Rayleigh and the pirates for freeing them. Outside, the Marines fire their first volley of cannonballs to reveal all three Supernova captains to their Devil Fruit abilities. Luffy uses Gomu Gomu no Fusen to deflect the cannonball aimed at him. Kid uses electromagnetic powers to stop the cannonball and fire it back at the mortars even harder. Law creates an energy field around himself, cutting off the head of a nearby marine and replacing it with a nearby cannonball. However, Marine is still alive and Law is holding his own.

As the marines regroup to ensure they can rescue the hostages, Kid tells the other two not to interfere. Ignoring him, Luffy attacks the marines, using Gomu Gomu no Ami to catch a bunch of the fired cannonballs and fire them back at the marines, except for one that erupted and scattered Law and Kid. Kid tells Luffy that he’s completely insane and uses his powers to attract a bunch of guns and swords, firing them back at the marines, forcing them to retreat. The marine captain on the scene asks if Kizaru has arrived, but he hasn’t yet, even as reinforcements prepare to join the battle as the supernova captains stand tall.
