 Summary:

Kaya and her servant discuss Klahadore’s anniversary gift, which is a new pair of glasses that Kaya ordered from another town. No one in the village trusts Usopp and he is banished. Back at the coast, the Usopp Pirates lead Zoro and Nami to where they found Luffy, who told them about the assassination plan. After escaping from the villagers, Usopp finds himself at Kaya’s mansion in an attempt to save her directly. However, even she believes it to be a lie, created as revenge for the harsh things Klahadore said to Usopp earlier. When the villagers catch up and Kaya’s servant holds Usopp’s gun, the young man decides to run away instead. Usopp meets with his followers and decides to cover up the truth as another one of his lies and protect the village himself. Witnessing his determination, Luffy, Zoro and Nami agree to help.
At the mansion, Kaya and the servant discuss the glasses they brought to Klahadore as an anniversary gift from the next town.
At the village, Usopp has trouble convincing the other villagers that the pirates are indeed coming, and ends up running away in fear.
On the cliff, Luffy is awake, Nami, Zoro and the other Usopp pirates learn of the plan. Zoro asks why he was sleeping where he was, Luffy remembers that he was on the cliff before. Usopp’s pirates realize they have to escape before the pirates come tomorrow while they still have a chance and escape. Luffy is more concerned with buying food at the butcher shop before being killed.
Usopp arrives at the mansion to save Miss Kaya. He tries to explain that Klahadore is a pirate. Kaya doesn’t believe Usopp and doesn’t know what to make of the story. As another Kaya servant enters the room, Usopp is suddenly charged by two bodyguards from the front of the mansion and he struggles to break free. He knocks them down with a slingshot, Kaya motions for him to stop. She believes that Usopp is not the person she once knew. When the villagers arrive at the mansion, Usopp grabs Kaya, but is slapped and forced to let go. Kaya says that Usopp is the worst person she knows, and Usopp is forced to run when her servant pulls out a gun and shoots him despite Kaya’s plea. Usopp is shot in the arm but manages to escape with his life. When Usopp is gone, Kaya passes out on his chest.
As he leaves the village, Luffy and the others catch up with him. He hides his wound from them and tries to say it was a lie to get back at the butler. Usopp’s pirates believe him. Three children wonder home.
Later that night, Usopp explains to Luffy, Nami, and Zoro that because he always lies, the villagers didn’t believe him. Since the villagers think Usopp is lying, Usopp decides to make the lie just that, waiting for the pirates tomorrow and confronting them to make the villagers think it was indeed a lie. The others announce that they will help him fight the pirates so he doesn’t have to face them alone.
