Summary:
Zoro attempts to fight Kuma, but all of his attacks are deflected effortlessly. Kuma reveals that he ate the Nikyu Nikyu no Mi, which allows him to deflect attacks and air at a very high speed. He then proves his strength by easily shrugging off Sanji’s Concasse attack and taking out Franky and Usopp with almost effortless effort. He ends up compressing the air to create a pressure bomb before issuing an ultimatum: He will spare everyone if they hand over Luffy, only to be met with defiance. Kuma mentions that it’s a shame to detonate Thriller Bark with his Ursus Shock attack.
Bartholomew Kuma towers over everyone. Many witnesses wonder what powers this man could have had to cause so much destruction. Lola is upset because she and the rest of the Rolling Pirates just finished with Gecko Moria’s nightmare, but with Kuma in the middle, it seemed their ordeal was far from over. The rest of the Rolling Pirates decide to fight since the Rolling Pirates have already been through a lot to defeat Moria. Zoro suddenly speaks and says that Kuma challenged him that he intends to take down the Warlord of the Sea himself. Kuma starts talking about the Straw Hats and their heroics and how quickly they became infamous. However, Kuma makes it clear that they have yet to be taken out. Just then, Zoro prepares his swords. Usopp tries to talk Zoro down, but Zoro doesn’t listen as he intends to fight even if it leads to his death.
Zoro uses Nitoryu Iai: Rashomon as his first attack, but Kuma quickly moves out of the way. Kuma is suddenly on top of Zoro and tries to attack him, but Zoro manages to dodge at the last moment. Zoro comments on how fast Kuma is, and Kuma sends out another paw-shaped aerial attack that manages to easily graze Zoro. Everyone then notices the paw on Kumo’s hand as Zoro stands up again. Zoro uses Sanjuroku Pound Ho, but Kuma deflects the attack away with his paw and redirects it near some Rolling Pirates. Chopper wonders how Kuma is able to deflect the attack with his bare hands. Zoro then says that he figured out what Kuma’s ability is. Kuma reveals that he ate the Nikyu Nikyu no Mi, which allows him to deflect anything. The other Straw Hats question the name and appearance of Kuma’s Devil Fruit, especially Franky, who does not believe it is a serious Devil Fruit. Kuma sends air at Franky, knocking the cyborg to the ground. Everyone is shocked at how the cyborg Franky was taken down so easily. Robin explains this by saying that Kuma deflects the air himself. Kuma calls this technique Pad Ho because it is able to deflect the air itself into a high-speed, damaging attack.
Kuma now takes a sumo-like stance and fires several air shots known as the Tsuppari Pad Ho at Zoro. Zoro manages to dodge the attack with Toro Nagashi, but when he connects with his attack on Kuma, Kuma deflects the attack with his paw pads. Zoro is sent flying backwards and Kuma quickly approaches him. Some of the Rolling Pirates comment that Zoro is too worn out from fighting with the oars, and as Usopp calls out, Kuma suddenly appears behind Zoro, preparing for another attack. Sanji suddenly rushes in and kicks Kumu in the face, stopping the attack. Zoro angrily tells Sanji not to interfere, but notices Sanji falling to the ground after kicking Kuma. Sanji screams in pain as Kuma recognizes him due to his kicking style. Sanji wonders if Kuma’s face is made of steel, and Usopp fires a Hi no Tori Boshi/Fire Bird Star at Kuma. Kuma simply deflects the attack back at Usopp and damages him. It turns out that the Straw Hats are having a lot of trouble fighting the Warlord.
After a moment of silence, Kuma speaks up, saying how boring it is to fight the injured Straw Hats. Kuma admits that it’s not a fair fight since the Straw Hats have already fought against Moria and Oars, but also says that he has to follow orders even if he doesn’t agree with them. Kuma then suddenly starts compressing a large amount of air into a strange paw-shaped translucent ball of energy. Nami notices that Kuma is compressing a massive mass of air into a very small area. Robin says he plans to release the compressed energy, causing a bomb-like explosion. After a moment, Kuma seems to be done, but before unleashing an attack, he suggests an alternative. Kuma says he will spare everyone’s lives if they hand Luffy over to him. The Straw Hats and Rolling Pirates reject the proposal, and Kuma attacks everyone with an Ursus Shock, resulting in a massive explosion that results in the destruction of the Thriller Bark.
