One Piece Episode 706

Summary:

After Donquijote Doflamingo remembers killing his father and meeting his handlers as a child, he confronts his brother Rosinante about his crew’s betrayal. After learning that Trafalgar D. Water Law had eaten Ope Ope no Mi and being tricked into believing he had already left the island, Doflamingo kills his brother and his crew unwittingly have the grieving Law transported to safety.

Inside the Birdcage surrounding the ghost town on Minion Island, the Barrels Pirates run as they are attacked by crew members controlled by Doflamingo’s strings. A shocked squad of Marines stand outside and report what’s going on as they try to break through the Birdcage, to no avail. Meanwhile, a boy named Dory ends up outside the Birdcage, and three of his imprisoned crew members plead with him to help them. However, Dory escapes. Meanwhile, two pirates are shot by the Donquixote Pirates and Barrels hears it from his headquarters. He curses Dory for abandoning them as he prepares to battle at the entrance. Suddenly, Doflamingo slashes open the door and proceeds to slash Barrels, causing him to collapse. An angry Barrels asks Doflamingo if his crew stole the Ope Ope no Mi, but Doflamingo replies that if they did, he wouldn’t have to do it. Doflamingo berates Barrels for having Ope Ope no Mi stolen as he pulls out his gun and shoots Barrels twice.

Outside, Diamante, Machvise, and Trebol are hoarding all the treasures they found and admiring him. Lao G arrives and tells them to stop fooling around and look for Corazon. Meanwhile, Buffalo flies over the cage with Baby 5 on his back. Lao G asks him how his search is going and Buffalo reports that there are no survivors in sight. Suddenly, Baby 5 picks up a Marine broadcast revealing that the Marines have taken the boy into custody. Lao G yells at them to get to work finding Corazon. Diamante approaches Doflamingo and wonders if Corazon is already dead. As Doflamingo sits on top of Barrels’ body, he holds his pistol in his hand and remembers when he first got it.

31 years ago, Doflamingo was approached by Trebol and Vergo after he used Haoshoku Haki on some citizens. Later, Doflamingo stood behind his father Homing carrying a pistol as Homing restrained a crying Rosinante while Doflamingo asked him why he took their power. Doflamingo remembered how Trebol had given him the power to take revenge as he held a gun to his father’s head. Doflamingo told Homing that he would regain his status as a World Noble by taking Homing’s head of Mary Geoise. Homing simply apologized to his sons for having to have a father like him, and Doflamingo struggles for a moment before finally pulling the trigger.

Meanwhile, Corazon hides behind a tree as the Donquixote pirates search for him. He then sneaks up behind Gladius to get his attention and Gladius shoots Corazon. Pica goes to tell Doflamingo that they found Corazon. Elsewhere, Law sits in a treasure chest and remembers how Corazon told him to stay there. Law then hears the Donquixote pirates heading for Corazon and tries to open the chest, but to no avail. Corazon taunts Gladius, joined by Diamante and Machvise, and manages to dodge Gladius’ shots. Diamante extends his sword to try to injure Corazon, managing to scrape off his jacket. Corazon runs towards the building when Lao G suddenly flies towards him, ready to strike. Corazon manages to avoid Lao G’s attack, but runs into Trebol, who fires explosive slime balls at him to send him flying towards a building. Corazon crashes into a wall and comes face to face with her four pursuers. He walks towards them when he is suddenly grabbed by Pica, who has connected with the stone wall.

Pica tightens her grip on Corazon before throwing him to Diamante, who sends him flying with the bat. Corazon lands on the ground facing her pursuers and smiles. However, Gladius repeatedly kicks Corazon, angrily asking him why he pretended to be mute, saying that he made Doflamingo a fool. Law hears the exchange in shock as Lao G warns Gladius not to kill Corazon before Doflamingo arrives. Trebol then grabs Corazon with his phlegm and slams him into a treasure chest containing Law as Doflamingo enters the scene. As Doflamingo approaches him, Corazon lights a cigarette but begins to succumb to his injuries. With malice in his voice, Doflamingo reflects on how it’s been six months since he last saw Corazon, but Corazon just smiles as Law worriedly hears the exchange.

Doflamingo and Corazon stare at each other as Corazon reaches into his jacket. Machvise and Gladius try to intervene, but Doflamingo stops them. Corazon remembers Sengoku taking him in after his father died when he pulled a gun from his jacket and pointed it at Doflamingo. Corazon reveals to Doflamingo that he was a marine commander on a secret mission to prevent the tragedy Doflamingo was planning. Corazon then quietly apologizes to Law for lying to him, but Law says he knew all along. Doflamingo gets angry at Corazon and asks him where Law and Ope Ope no Mi are. Corazon replies that he let Law eat it and that Law was already out of the cage and probably taken into Marine custody. Corazon’s words are confirmed by Buffalo and Baby 5, who report that they caught word of the boy being taken in. Doflamingo is angry that they didn’t tell him sooner, and Corazon is shocked and relieved that this happened despite Law still being on the island. . On a naval ship, marines calm a shaking Dory. Doflamingo then yells to check the ship and says he’s going to cancel the Birdcage, which shocks Corazon even more at how much the coincidence worked in Law’s favor.

Doflamingo prepares to go out and sink the naval ship, but Corazon tells him not to. However, Doflamingo reveals that ever since Law ate Ope Ope no Mi, he needed to teach Law how important it was to die. Doflamingo then pulls a gun from his jacket and asks Corazon why he is forced to kill another member of his own family, knowing that Corazon couldn’t shoot him because he was too similar to Homing. Inside the chest, Law senses that Corazon is in danger and tries to get out, but remembers how Corazon put him in there and said that someone would take him off the island. Law was worried for Corazon’s safety, but Corazon said that Doflamingo is after Ope Ope no Mi and won’t hurt him. Corazon used Calm to stop Law from making a sound and then told Law that he loved him before leaving. In the present, Corazon says that Law is finally out of Doflamingo’s reach and that he is no longer the same person he was three years ago, having been freed from the Amber Disease and the Flevance stigma. Doflamingo then shoots Corazon and Law recalls his memories of Corazon as the man falls to the ground.

The Donquixote pirates then prepare to leave the island, taking Law’s chest with them. Howe
