Summary:
Law finishes talking to Sengoku, who refuses to discuss D. on his behalf, saying that the best way to honor Donquijoto Rosinante’s memory is to live on.
In the East Port, Fujitora lifts all the debris on Dressros high into the air, intending to throw it at the pirates and gladiators. Suddenly, Luffy comes and attacks Fujitora, not going to run from the admiral anymore. However, during the battle, Luffy calls out what his next attack will be before performing it. Eventually, Fujitora overpowers Luffy and sends him crashing onto the coast of Dressrosa.
In response to Law’s revelation that he is the boy Donquijote Rosinante cared for, Sengoku states that he already guessed it, but asks Law why Rosinante worked so hard to help him. Law tells Sengoku how Rosinante took him to hospitals before giving him Ope Ope no Mi, and spent the thirteen years after Rosinante’s death working to kill Donquixote Doflamingo. However, Law questions if that’s how he was supposed to live as D., and Sengoku is shocked that Law carries the initials in his name. Law asks him if, as a former fleet admiral, he knows what that means, but Sengoku replies that he doesn’t know that Rosinante also had no idea and tells Law not to look for reasons why Rosinante loves him. As Law reminisces about his experiences with Rosinante, Sengoku says he won’t arrest him to keep talking and tells him that the best way to honor Rosinante’s memory is to remember him and live on.
In the eastern port, Fujitora approaches the pirates and gladiators huddled behind Bartolomeo’s barrier. Fujitora notices the barrier and draws his sword, causing loose rubble to shake throughout Dressrose. The citizens are confused as it begins to rise into the air, and Gatz remarks during the broadcast that it can only be Fujitora. Fujitora lifts all the debris into the air, creating a giant mass blocking the sun. The pirates and gladiators stare in shock, as do Riku Doldo III, Viola, Rebecca, and Kyros, who fear for the Straw Hats’ survival. Tsuru calls Bastille from the shore, but is too late to stare at the wreckage. She asks him if he needs more reinforcements in the eastern port, which he denies. Bastille then tells her soldiers to evacuate the eastern port and help get the citizens there to safety, telling them not to get in Fujitora’s way. Law reunites with the pirates and gladiators and tells them they should quickly run to the ships, but they note that Fujitora will probably crush them regardless. Bartolomeo then notices Luffy running towards them from behind Fujitora and tells Luffy to avoid the admiral. However, Luffy sees Fujitora and remembers confronting him before, and calls out to him with that in mind. Fujitora turns to face Luffy, who declares that he is going to punch the Admiral, and he does so with the Elephant Gun.
A fearful Bartolomeo asks Luffy why he attacked Fujitora, and Luffy replies that to become the Pirate King, he must be able to defeat anyone, including the Admirals and the Four Emperors. Luffy is determined not to run from them again, remembering how he and his crew were defeated by Bartholomew Kuma on the Sabaody Archipelago. Zoro and Usopp understand what he means when Luffy activates Gear 2 and goes after Fujitora again. However, Luffy announces what attack he’s going to do before he does it, catching Zoro off guard. Luffy and Fujitora exchange quick blows before Fujitora uses his devil fruit powers to pin Luffy to the ground. Luffy manages to punch his head out of Fujitora’s gravity zone as he attacks again, though he accidentally says that he’s going to kick Fujitora as he throws a punch. Luffy apologizes, but Fujitora replies that the attack didn’t even hit him as he tries to trap Luffy in multiple gravity fields, forcing the pirate to flee. Luffy and Fujitora then quickly trade blows again before Fujitora hits Luffy with a gravity attack, sending him crashing into the air. Luffy wonders why his body is getting lighter and heavier as Fujitora pushes him to the ground again, but manages to escape, reactivate Gear 2 and reiterate that he will not give up despite his allies’ pleas.
Fujitora states that Luffy has enough power to make this statement, but wonders why Luffy announces his attacks and angrily asks if it will give him a handicap when he blocks Gear 3’s strike. Luffy replies that it is because , that he likes Fujitora, causing the admiral to laugh, his laughter angering Luffy as they trade blows again. Fujitora questions the point as he blocks Gear 3’s next strike, saying that people should fight in a way that suits their position, without remorse, as he uses gravity to send Luffy to the ground. Luffy replies that he doesn’t care and Fujitora says that he does even if he doesn’t want to as he prepares his next attack. He then attacks Luffy with a gravity wave, causing the pirate’s vision to become distorted as he is sent to the coast of Dressrosa, destroying a large chunk of it.
